Three Billboards showing up here is a pretty impressive sign for its overall support. Shape of Water is going to get a lot of nominations

I do wonder how much "design" actually goes into costumes for films like Three Billboards. I mean, I know clothes are picked out and such, but if it's a green T-shirt instead of a blue one, does it really matter? If it's a hooded sweater instead of a non-hooded sweater, is the realism in jeopardy?

It's actually quite a lot of work. Besides the obvious shopping, clothes are also made and you need to basically create all characters in your head to really "get" the character.

Also, my cousin is actually Melissa Toth, who did the costumes for Three Billboards.

How long did it take her to decide that that Mildred Hayes should wear a blue boiler suit in every scene?
