Re: National Society of Film Critics Winners
So I guess Kaluuya beating Oldman for the Oscar should now be considered
I hate this. I enjoyed following the Oscars for many years but if they just use race and sex to determine the winners no doubt its credibility will be damaged for me. Only simpletons see race and gender are the most important way to judge something on either side, and that goes for the left wingers as well (I expect them to nominate Kamala Harris in 2020 cause she's a black woman)

Re: National Society of Film Critics Winners
McAvoy should have been the left field horror actor contender this year, not Kaluuya.
It's a shame that his performance in 'Split', which not many actors could have pulled off, is being completely overlooked this awards season.

Re: National Society of Film Critics Winners
I don't know. McAvoy's performance is a little too on the surface as an out-there character. Kaluuya feels more natural and convincing as a stranger in the town.

Quote: BEST PICTURE: LADY BIRD (41)
Runners-up: GET OUT (39) PHANTOM THREAD (28) I feel indifferent to Lady Bird. Maybe the family portrayed is not orthodox enough for me to feel any connection. Or maybe I am not a woman.

Quote: National Society of Film Critics:
We have 44 of our 59 members voting today: 17 at our meeting in New York, 4 at our satellite meeting in Los Angeles, 7 in other cities nationwide, and 16 by proxy. The proxy votes are admissible on the first ballot only.
How did the voting work? 44 members voting. Did they rank the movies?
