Re: $100+ million movies of 2017
Can we move Star Wars: The Last Jedi(1) to $100+ million club now? Or do we have to wait for actual number?

Ferdinand struck out. It'll fail to get to $80m now with Welcome to Jumanji Jungle opening in a few days.

Just saw that Algren mentioned PP3 a possibility. I don't think it's going to reach anymore

I don't think it's going to reach anymore I actually agree that it belongs to 'possible', it's obviously not 'great chance' but it's trailing only a little bit behind MotOE. Ferdinand and The Greatest Showman, however, are box office bombs for sure.

MotoE is not the right comparison because of the release date

Re: $100+ million movies of 2017
PP3 has been out for just 5 days, just had a $7.4m day and has racked up $33m. It's still possible, even though I believe it will fall short. It doesn't really matter if it's on the list or not. The year will most likely end with 31 $100m grossers.

Not really. Actually I only give people a hard time for putting remote possibilities as "locks".

Ferdinand and Showman won’t hit 100m, but neither is a bomb. Disappointment sure, but both will break even.

Re: $100+ million movies of 2017
PP3 has taken advantage of its release date after a disappointing OW. Even though it will fall short of the $184.2m that PP2 earned two years ago, this still has a chance at a $100m as long as it doesn't fall too hard after the holidays.

I think it will fall hard after the holidays. Only movie to do well this year would be Jumanji

Re: $100+ million movies of 2017
It is nice to see studios releasing films at busy times, and actually recognising that it's not the theme of the film that should match the holiday ... people will see any film if they have time available to them. Christmas is not just a time for Christmas movies. That's the old mindset.
