Wonder Woman: What Went Right?
Surprised this thread hasn't been made
This was the biggest box office hit of the summer and might single handedly save DC films in general over the next few years. It doesn't get talked enough on these boards, but the was a bonafide smash hit with a practically 4.0 multiplier which is unheard of for not only a superhero movie, but blockbusters in general, particularly in the summer.
So what happened? It wasn't just the first female superhero gimmick or this film would have not gotten the best legs for a summer superhero movie in years.
This was a mega hit!

Came out in the middle of the feminism bubble. That's literally it. Because the film is shit.

Re: Wonder Woman: What Went Right?
The message behind the film is anti-war and complex nature of morality.

Re: Wonder Woman: What Went Right?
Maybe, but I just don't think the legs would have held up if it was a bad film.

Morons are quite easily swayed into believing copper is gold if enough people claim it so.

Some folks don't like gold if it comes from a miner they don't like

The movie went right.
There hadn’t been anything as good like it before.

Re: Wonder Woman: What Went Right?
Because the film was great. The $100m opening was good, but not all that impressive. A $250m finish would have been the same. The all time best legs from a $100m Friday opener though? That was earned on screen.

I guess we can say Wonder Woman has been some kind of phenom. One who's legs are surprising, I still don't think it's because of it's quality.

It was went Marvel films have aspired to be with a gorgeous, warm but tough woman as the lead. Feminism def. helped it as AA crowd will help BP.

If it wasn't, Catwoman and Elektra would've been phenomenons. It just didn't strike a chord with you. Same thing for me and Get Out. It did nothing for me, but I can't the film has an audience.

Fair enough. Its success is still solely hinged on this then: Algren wrote: Came out in the middle of the feminism bubble. That's literally it.
