Justice League is a bondafide bomb. The fact that it's doing decent overseas and have maybe decent megs cause of holidays and better reception than BvS/SS aren't enough to change the bomb label. This is an absolute disaster and completely deserved for their past failures. WB should t have been getting away with what they had done for DCU sans WW. MOS was more than fine. All he wanted to do was make MOS 2, and WB changes everything, first by adding Batman, then JL elements and WW, and finally by adding Doomsday. Then to put the icing on the cake. People actually like Cavill as Superman, he has a prominent role in the film, and they instead decide to hide it. It would have been one thing if they made him the villain. This films marketing is to blame. Imagine a marketing campaign devoted to Bruce doing whatever he could to bring Superman back to life. JL is nothing without him. What if RDJ was not marketed at all in Avengers 1. And they actually could considering he was rejected in IM2

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
The same multiplier as last year's FANTASTIC BEASTS would point towards a $90m opening for JL...

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
Is there a chance it fails to clear $90 million for the 3-day? Sunday drop will be kind, but its raw Friday number is $25.8 million, and I'm not sure how much it can increase from that today. It needs to make at least $31 million today, which should be doable, but I dunno...
Wonder is a smash, can't wait to see that movie's legs over the coming weeks.
Lady Bird and Three Billboards are doing quite nicely in limited release, can't wait to see them expand.
Roman J. Israel, Esq. has been very oddly handled - it only got a trailer a month ago, and they seemed to make this decision for a limited start very last-minute. Apparently the movie is also much weirder and jumbled than the marketing lets on, so WOM when it opens might be terrible. It could be one of Denzel's lowest grossers in eons.

Box Office Mojo is labeling this as a global smash opening...huh...

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
*sigh* hate to say it but it really is an embarrassing outing. Thanksgiving week should be at least decent but we also didn't see a lower than 2.0 multiplier from BvS. I think the year gap between this and Aquaman is a good time to hire good WRITERS and plan films that they won't put through a grinder like Wonder Woman.

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
I am tempted to say the weekend is a bit misleading. This is obviously not summer and the last 3 pre-thanksgiving openers all disappointed big time relative to expectations on opening weekend.

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
Ouch for JL. Should have seen it coming, though. I mean, everyone talked about how bad BvS was and SS didn't really reignite interest, but I thought WW would have made people care again. And maybe they did, before they saw the reviews that showed it was barely better than BvS. (by %, not by actual content of reviews). Should end up with an $88-93M opening, on its way to barely crossing $230M. Thanksgiving will help it, but I see it falling somewhere between a New Moon and Mockingjay Part 2 multiplier (so maybe 2.4).
Fantastic start for Wonder! I was starting to think it could reach high teens by the end up the week, but mid to upper 20s is phenomenal! Depending on how much school groups effected tomorrow, I see it reaching around $27-28M for the weekend and wouldn't be surprised if it legged it's way over $150M.

What if RDJ was not marketed at all in Avengers 1. And they actually could considering he was rejected in IM2 I was fine with the analysis before but saying that JL is nothing without Cavill is also an overkill, he is essential ofcourse but he is not RDJ. I think at this point WW and Batman has more pull than Superman.

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
Wonder Woman made people care about Wonder Woman, not Justice League. And they cared because it was in a "let's support this film to show Trump!" bubble. Female director, "feminist" film...it was perfect, but sadly nothing to do with the DCU.

Re: Friday Number: Zac Snyder's Curse Finally Comes Alive
I now think Algren is correct with his reasoning unless other DCEU solo movies start doing well. Plus while "enjoyable" the legs and critical response for WW is just baffling.
