Taylor will be fine. She's already set up her future, where she "goes back" to country after a few pop albums.

Why is the top 10 completely infested with crappy rap songs?

Streaming affecting the charts is more reflective of what people listen to, which is hip hop. When it was radio it was too influenced by what's radio friendly/safe.

Overall after 00-09 where I still can't figure out what music it will be remembered for, I think we have a new "era" and decade defining sound. The mumble rap style, production over lyrical content type of hip hop, seems to be at the forefront now

I prefer radio friendly/safe over "hip hop".

Can you give an example of radio-friendly/safe music?

Pretty much any pop song including Ed Sheeran, Bruno, Chainsmokers, Justin Bieber's among artists in that top 10. Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Ariana Grade, etc. I prefer those artists to mumble rap crap like Future and Lil Uzi Vert too, but if more people are listening to them in private than pop, they deserve to chart higher than mall friendly songs

Post Re: Billboard chart discussion thread
The thing is the way they implemented streaming is stupid. 150 streams equal one paid unit and 10 paid units equal one album sale. But it's really disproportionate how "valuable" streams actually are.

"The Trichordist has also calculated the number of streams needed on the various services to equal a traditional sale: 139 streams on Spotify, 83 on Apple Music, 90 on Google Play, 95 on Deezer and, ahem, 876 on YouTube."

http://musically.com/2017/01/17/new-fig ... -and-more/

Youtube probably gives the most streams for the songs on the charts yet it's by far the least valuable and BB just does not account for that. Also there's not a rule for how long a stream needs to last to count. That's left to streaming sites themselves and they go as low as 30 sec to count a stream which is bullshit. So 150 people who just checked the song for 30 sec and decided they didn't like it still counts as a sale.

Though "Something Just Like This" is also shit. The only really good songs in the top 10 are That's What I Like, Stay (SOOOOO overplayed) and Shape of You (though it's overplayed). I'm The One, Despacito (not worthy of being #1 so long)are good but not great.

In terms of popular music, this year seems to belong to the "mumble rappers." Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Lil Yachty, Migos, Rae Sremmurd. Whether you dig them or hate them, and what they mean in relation to hip-hop conceptions of credibility and masculinity, seems to be the big pop dividing line right now.

Is "Despacito" near any record for most weeks at #1 or any other records besides YouTube?
