It is well above $300 M. They didn't count everything outside Japan, China & South Korea.
Usually i wait for Corpse for yen - dollar conversion, but for this week i count the number myself, multiplied the weekly addition to current currency rate, hopefully it's not too much fault.

#NATION #LOCAL CURR #USD

Indeed, the cumulative figure you posted is quite accurate and YN is possibly approaching $400 M, the US release will play an major role and will be the deciding factor whether if its become the 3rd highest grossing non-hollywood film or not.
It's already released in Vietnam, if anyone got update on that please post and it's releasing in italy on 23rd.
Also, will US be the last country where YN will roll in?

Corpse must be busy this week, waiting for the official weekends data tho :)

Edited-

it's officially announced by Funimation that 7th April is the fixed date for US release, even the band "RADWIMPS" is going to dub the songs in English which will be used in the English dub version of the movie :D

Post Re: Japan Box Office: WKND Forecast (Your Name To Recapture
Greetings!

I think the actual gross in China is closer to $ 85M.

Thanks to Olive from Box Office Theory (url) we know that Your Name grossed ¥1.8M on Saturday, December, 31. And cumulative gross after that day was ¥586M.

We also know pre-sales on Saturday (¥0.37M) and Sunday (¥0.41M), so we can extrapolate Sunday gross to ¥1,99. That gives us about ¥588 cumulative gross after January, 1st.

Judging by exchange rates on that day (0.14399) we have something around $84,665,342 in China.

That, updated SK numbers ($18,763,648) and Vietnamese numbers ($159,511) brings us to $338.1M wordwide.

Please, fact-check me, I'm new here and maybe I was wrong somewhere.

The way I see it atm, your name won't leave the top three this& week, in its.... 22nd weekend. At this rate your name could easily nabbed that 26 weekend at the top 10 record held by Spirited Away, maybe even nearing 30?? who knows.. and how's the competition?

Anyway, from the news Funimation only manage around 200 screens for initial airing of your name. I hope this number is not fix or added during its run. Eurozoom which handled distribution in France had 100 opening screen and it disappeared since then. They then informed 100,000 tickets sold but should be way more than that, considering the solid high rating 8.1/8.7 at allocine (8.7 is the highest rated title for any genres in audience rating category)

Apologies for the lack of updates the past week (almost two weeks!), I've been very busy.

I'll post LAST weekend's actuals soon, followed later by THIS weekend's weekend estimates.

Your Name. wasn't able to reclaim the #1 spot last week in its 21st weekend; however, based on estimates this weekend, it returned to the #1 spot this week in its 22nd weekend of release by staying nearly flat versus last weekend.

Needless to say, no film has ever managed to accomplish such an amazingly ridiculous achievement in the past. Its "late" run is putting even Spirited Away to shame, which is the only comparable film now and "comparable" is stretching it at this point.

Yeah. It's truly reached unprecedented territory now, who knows how long it'll keep going (probably well past Spring).

Also, for the upcoming 40th Japan Academy Prize Ceremony, it achieved four nominations last week - Best Animated Feature, Best Director (Makoto Shinkai), Best Achievement in Screenplay (Makoto Shinkai), and Best Achievement in Music, making it the first animated film to ever score four nominations at the Japan Academy Prize. It likely would have made Best Picture, too (given it made Director and Screenplay), but animated films aren't eligible for the category since they got their own category in 2006.

Corpse, I'm glad to see you again. I wanted to ask you a question. We know thanks to you that in the 50s there were japanese films of much assistance like Godzilla (1954) or "Emperor Meiji and the Great Russo-Japanese War" (1958).

Between 1950 and 1953 was there a Japanese film that reached 5 million admissions or came?

Cheers Corpse, take your time.
Thanks for the updates as usual.
I don't any film ever come back to top spot after 22th weekend, not in japan (before), not in US, nowhere.

Except, perhaps old times when the number of films were not as it is today.

Someone could research on this matter and made your name a new headline XD

Corpse, do you think it has a chance of reaching 30 consecutive weeks on top-10. Passing spirited away's 26, and not too far away from US record of 35 (E.T).

Tomorrow is the official date for nominees announcement *Finger crossed* :zonks:

Btw @Corpse can YN stay in Top 3 till Feb? Any upcoming anticipated film within that time frame.

Along with YN, In this corner of the world also grab 2 nomination at JAP, I wonder how is it.

I'll try to find some time this week or the next do some research. None have been reported, but there's likely some considering how high admissions were in the 1950s.

It'll break Spirited Away's 26-consecutive week run in the Top 10, and 30-consecutive weeks in the Top 10 is doable.

It'll easily stay in the Top 3 until February. It just returned to #1 this weekend, after all.

>Your Name., after being dethroned from atop the box office eight weeks ago, has outlasted everything through the Winter box office season and has reclaimed the #1 spot in its 22nd week of release. Shinkai's unprecedented smash easily claims the biggest 22nd weekend record in the process, and needless to say, no film has ever ranked #1 at the weekend box office in its 22nd weekend.

After 22 weeks, the phenomenon has sold a incredible 18,153,090 admissions. It's now just ¥1.92 billion away from overtaking Frozen to become the third highest-grossing film of all-time, and ¥2.64 billion away from surpassing Titanic to become the second highest-grossing film of all-time. Both films are very much in its sights, and I'd be surprised if it doesn't end up beating both of them; that'll leave only Spirited Away in its path.

>Shinjuku Swan 2 got off to a fairly soft start, down over 30% compared to its predecessor from two years ago. The sequel sold 115,891 admissions over the weekend frame across 333 screens. Still, even given the lackluster debut, Sony can probably bank on it reaching the ¥1 billion (~$10 million) milestone.

>Silence managed to surprise a bit over the weekend with a comfortable Top 5 debut, selling 104,648 admissions over the weekend on 342 screens. Since the film is skewing quite older, it'll have strong weekdays, so I wouldn't rule out a potential ¥1 billion (~$10 million) total.

>Resident Evil: The Final Chapter continues to perform well, surpassing Resident Evil: Retribution over the weekend after five weeks in release. The last film in the very successful franchise will exceed the ¥4 billion (~$35 million) mark any day now and should finish pretty close to ¥4.5 billion (~$40 million).

>Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is unfortunately going to miss the ¥5 billion (~$45 million) blockbuster milestone, and looks to finish just shy with around ¥4.6/4.7 billion ($40/41 million). It's not unexpected for a spin-off to see a significant drop-off from the main series, though it's slightly disappointing it'll fall short of the blockbuster mark.
