Now that he's inaugurated. Time to tally all the horrors Trump racks up and maybe the occasional win

Kelly Anne used the words "alternative facts" today. That could be the slogan of the next few years.

It just comes across as similar to how Putin delegitimizatized the media in Russia to the point that the only major news outlet left in major cities was ones (or one if I am not mistaken) that bent over backwards to present Putin in only a good light. Not having a media that is free to criticize the current government is detrimental to a democracy.

Trump did say in his campaign that he wanted much stronger libel laws and in his interpretation any source that present him in a negative light is libel so....

"Alternative facts" (aka nghtvsn's entire state of existence) is my new favorite phrase in the English language.

"Your Honor, my client didn't commit perjury, he was simply stating alternative facts."

Yeah, that'll work.

I felt sorry for Kellyanne Conway until she became a full believer post win. From August-October she was clearly in on the joke.

She's a horrible, horrible person, who was critical of Trump right up until he hired her and then she did a 180 and has been coming up with alternative facts ever since.

If the US remains as a relatively open society (thanks to civil society), I doubt it will happen. Actually some antagonism between the administration and the media is healthy for democracy. I think the Trump administration's promotion of "alternative facts" will invite more new media outlets that are less compliant, less likely to tag along with the government. The media will be more decentralized, which is a good thing.

So, it only took two days for us to get our first instance of Orwellian Doublespeak in the Trump administration. What an encouraging sign of things to come!

The New York Times was quick to publish an article outlining the factual evidence behind every report that Trump, Conway, or Spicer has tried to deny/repudiate/spin/flat out lie/etc. On one hand, I'm glad to see the swiftness in holding the Trump administration accountable for its blatant lies. On the other hand, many of the people who actually need the truth explained to them have probably already written the NYT off as lying press.

Post Re: The Trump Era: The Awkward Mix of Libertarianism and Fas
Let's recap...
March 2011: Trump effectively calls Obama "illegitimate," asks for Obama's birth certificate, and spreads conspiracies about Obama's upbringing
One week ago: Trump rails against the MSM and the "fake news" that released the Russian dossiers
Yesterday: Trump's press secretary puts out fake news about Trump's crowd sizes
Today: Conway rails against the MSM for trying to "delegitimize" President Trump, thereby warranting "alternative facts"

You can't make this hypocrisy up.

Not to mention he won't be releasing his tax returns.

Obama did claim he was an international student on his college applications.

No he didn't. But I'm not completely surprised that you believed that crap.

I'm not doubting his citizenship at least.

Plus both sides tell lies about the other. The democrats are not righteous in this instance.

Nah, we never discuss politics. That's just a tiny part. Plus, you're really nice!

Dang I'm usually really good at picking out falseness. My dad usually tells me all the claims about OBama's citizenship are false and he's 100% a citizen, so I figured if he did say something else about Obama it would be true. I apologize for my error and I'm very embarrassed.

EVEN IF Obama had put that on an application, I go through home loans every day where people will check the wrong box for citizenship. It means next to nothing.

Libertarianism? I can buy some fascist arguments but libertarianism? Paul Ryan's view (very soft libertarianism) and Rand Paul's (more full throated libertarianism) is dead in the GOP and Trump killed it. Social Security reform (or deletion thereof) is off the table.

Buy America and protectionism is leftist economic garbage.

Again, I'm sorry! I'm 100% positive that Obama was a legitimate president! He wasn't even a bad president! He was at least par for the course!
