Re: Debate schedule
Yeah Romney can only get Obama on the economy...
and Frankly Obama's answers on that were lame...
On other issues and Foreign Policy Obama won clearly...
So Frankly Obama wins but not as much as Romney won last week.
Romney needs to change his talking points on foreign policy.

The impartial German considers this debate a clear win for Obama.

Re: Debate schedule
All Obama had to do was not suck this debate. He did way better than that. And he should win the final debate as well. The race has been over for a while.

Re: Debate schedule
I was watching the news today and I'll give it to the President. He had a funny line about how Romney was suffering from "Romnesia" and then he says but that's okay because Obamacare covers pre-existing conditions.

Re: Debate schedule
I find the whole fuss about the 47% flawed on both sides. Romney was a jerk and said a totally stupid comment and likely cost him the election. However many on the other side, fail to see how terrible it is to have so many people now become dependent on the govt... Sure they pay other forms of taxes... However that is not a defense of a terrible fact. The concern should be is how to make that more and more people, become better off so they can help contribute more to the tax system. Sure raise taxes on the rich and massively cut spending, but medicare and social security costs will increase a lot more in the coming decades. Serious debate needs to be put on this issue... I always play the middle but frankly I am shocked that anyone here is really enthusiastic about either candidates message or ideas. About the polls, they have gone from Romney being ahead to them being tied on average... Obama has come back strong in the battleground states but it appears NC and Florida are now quite easily in Romney's camp. The efforts are now all over Virgina and Ohio...

Re: Debate schedule
Manny:
There are many people dependent on the government. Most of them are that way for a short period of time because of unemployment, or other situations beyond their control.
Most of the 47%, however, include people who get no welfare but simply do not earn enough to pay income taxes after deducting their children and mortgage and so on. Haven't you ever worked at a minimum wage job or something near it? These people aren't sponges on society. They just don't earn enough to pay income taxes.
They do pay a payroll tax, sales tax, property tax, school tax, social security tax, and many other taxes and fees. It's not like they are getting things for free.
We just have a tax system that takes into consideration whether people can afford income tax (well, unless you're really rich). That's a good thing.
To lump these people in with anyone who gets food stamps or other welfare just shows that Romney doesn't understand.

Re: Debate schedule
I am well aware that the 47% refers to the % that do not pay Federal Income taxes... See here in Canada once you make over $10,000 dollars you start to pay Federal Income taxes and no mortgage expenses are not tax deductible here. There are many many deductions but on average even a person making around min wage will end up paying some tax... So to me thinking close to half of the population does not Federal Income taxes seems rather serious and unsustainable imo from my perspective... See if the Federal govt was not responsible for anything, it would be okay. With rising medicare and social security costs, such a system will become quite unsustainable. I think efforts need to be taken to reverse this by creating a more positive economic environment. No I do not mean more useless govt spending... It means to create stability... or that more people need to contribute something or anything to the system.. Romney thinks everyone who not pay is a leech and Obama sort of takes pride in this fact... Both have it wrong... No candidate has any real solution to the fundamental problems that face American society. Obama appears to have silly one line zingers now. "Hey I came promising hope and change and well I tried my best and well I will just say one liners to make you all love me again!!"

Re: Debate schedule
Anyways back to the Election... It appears Obama 2nd Debate Performance have not helped as much as expected in the polls. The polls have gone from Romney being ahead after the first debate to it being simply tied. Which is a surprise... I imagine the Obama camp expected a big boost. Obama odds of winning have also gone down to below 60% for the first time. Meaning... Obama will win but damn this is going to be closer then a lot of us thought.. I doubt Obama gets more then 300 EC votes now. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/

Re: Debate schedule
Odds still favor Obama, but not as much as before. If the election were held today, Obama would get 271 Electoral votes and Romney 191 (with a bunch of toss up states). In order to win, Romney has to win ALL the toss up states plus one more. http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/201 ... ctoral-map

Re: Debate schedule
Based on the polls...
It likley will be 240-260 for Romney and 270-290 for Obama.
Romney will take Florida, NC for sure.
I think Virgina and Colorado are going in his favour.
Giving him about 257 EC votes.
Obama will Keep Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and NH...
Obama has to just play defense in Ohio and he is fine.

If Romney manages to pound Obama with the right questions about Libya, he might be able to score another win in debates today.
