Netflix quickly announced House of Cards is ending next season after the Spacey scandal. Will he get killed off in the first 5 minutes? Earlier ABC pulled Ten Days in the Valley from Sunday and will air the rest on Saturdays |

I don't watch House of Cards, but isn't the show basically Kevin Spacey's? |

It's a double hander between him and Robin Wright. The show has been in production for a few weeks already so they'll probably just shoot as planned and be done with it. |

Apparently this was supposed to be the last season anyway. |

Damn, that sucks. I was just getting into it. It's an odd concept for CBS, and an odd concept in general, but they seemed to be working out the kinks. The downside was that the future portion kind of sucked and wasted an always-excellent John Larroquette. |

One of the few bigger names that made a wise move going to TV and Netflix, only to piss it away. Too bad. |

Amazon is in talks to do Lord of the Rings series http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/lord-of ... 202606519/ Not sure how I feel about this, HBO post Game of Thrones is the best fit for a series like this. Amazon hasn't exactly produced a long list of great shows and after The Last Tycoon's apparent insane budget, this feels like it would take the Netflix strategy of throwing 200 million at something and thinking that makes it good. Clearly though the reward if it's a hit would be massive for putting Amazon shows on the map. Harry Potter is probably on TV within the next 5 years |

Ugh. Hopefully it never happens. There are much better source materials that have never been developed previously. |

There would be no purpose in remaking the Lord of the Rings. However, Harry Potter could work much better as a tv show than film series. |

For once, I agree. Harry Potter would make an interesting series. Peter Jackson only wishes he could stretch out LOTR into a TV series length and make major money off it. |

Apparently they're asking for 200-250 million upfront for the rights and that's why HBO said hell naw. Add in the budget and Amazon or Netflix is going to spend 400 mil+ on LOTR??? http://deadline.com/2017/11/lord-of-the ... 202201636/ |

The Orville has been renewed by Fox for Season 2. As for season pick-ups, Young Sheldon and SEAL Team (22 each) get full seasons while my favorite new show of the season, The Good Doctor gets 18 episodes (Shore requested this, not the network. Otherwise, it would have gotten 22 for the season). Also, Grey's Anatomy, The Middle, Black-ish, American Housewives have extended their respective seasons to 24 episodes. Meanwhile, CBS cancelled Zoo, FOX cancelled Wayward Pines, and ABC cancelled Somewhere Between. |

Amazon Lord of the Rings is official. But it will be new storylines preceding FOTR. Good move. Amazon is clearly trying to go for the next GOT. This will be easily the biggest financial commitment in TV history and game changing move in a lot of ways. Netflix vs Amazon vs Hulu etc. is now a streaming war. |

LOL. The Hobbit ended up really crappy with all the added story. Good luck making the pre-LOTR interesting. |

Agreed, seems like they're really boxing themselves in to a boring story with little stakes. Better Call Saul though was able to somehow pull off the prequel story and still make it great & exciting. I don't really think it's comparable though. |

Tolkein writing all that other history kind of screws them, they can't just make up their own blank slate before the main series. I guess setting it after the main series would have given them some freedom, but then you mess with the ending. Either way the fanboys are a landmine. I saw some people suggest younger Aragorn should be the lead character if it's set between The Hobbit and FOTR |

That's not a terrible idea with younger Aragorn. Still, like you said, quite a landmine for the writers. It's probably just the supremely sour taste that the Hobbit movies left, but I just can't anything but dread for this series. Let's hope it proves us all wrong. |

Wisdom of the Crowd effectively cancelled (won't get back order) Fox is doing a hip hop singing competition with P Diddy, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor and Charlie Walk as judges and Fergie as host https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/ ... 898753001/ I like that idea more than rebooting Idol, and they nailed the judges |

The American Idol reboot is going to crash hard. Initial interest will disappear fast. The hip hop competition could potentially grab a bigger audience. |

The hip hop thing sounds like it would be a hit for something like BET but I don't think it's going to last long on broadcast network. |
