Creative Emmy Awards are given out this weekend. We could get a clear idea on the frontrunners for the main prizes.

Without GoT this year feels so uneventful when the biggest/best show wasnt eligible.

This season wasn't THAT good. It was alright and in ways an improvement over 6, but 1-5 were all better.

The last 3 episodes were incredibly mediocre. Very much did not have the same anything can happen tone the show used to have.

Thank you for voicing your opinion over and over again for no apparent reason. Realize others might not share the same opinion.

Also the show is coming to an end and the seeds that have been sown are slowly showing up and of course as we near towards the final resolution things will seem less open and more conclusive. It's called the end of a story.

So people can go "OMFG GOT" over and over again but I can't fairly criticize it over and over again?

You could, but _autism doesn't share your opinion, so THAT MEANS YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED.

I disagree, but again not the point. You only have to submit one episode and 'The Spoils of War' would treat the competition like Drogon treated the Lannister armies. Westworld beating that would mean a lot more than Westworld beating House of Cards.

Spoiler: show
PROGRAMS WITH MULTIPLE AWARDS
(COMBINED CREATIVE ARTS)
Saturday Night Live 5
Stranger Things 5
Westworld 5
13th 4
Samurai Jack 4
The Night Of 4
Big Little Lies 3
Hairspray Live! 3
RuPaul's Drag Race 3
The Handmaid's Tale 3
Veep 3
Born This Way 2
Dancing With The Stars 2
FEUD: Bette And Joan 2
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver 2
O.J.: Made In America 2
Planet Earth II 2
The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years 2
The Crown 2

It would seem like Stranger Things and Westworld are frontrunners for the big prizes based on the number of wins at the Creative Awards. But seems to me like Stranger Things has a slight edge over Westworld.

Stranger Things won:
OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL MAIN TITLE THEME MUSIC
OUTSTANDING SOUND EDITING FOR A SERIES
OUTSTANDING MAIN TITLE DESIGN
OUTSTANDING CASTING FOR A DRAMA SERIES
OUTSTANDING SINGLE-CAMERA PICTURE EDITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES

Westworld won:
OUTSTANDING SOUND MIXING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (ONE HOUR)
OUTSTANDING CREATIVE ACHIEVEMENT IN INTERACTIVE MEDIA WITHIN A
SCRIPTED PROGRAM
OUTSTANDING SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS
OUTSTANDING HAIRSTYLING FOR A SINGLE-CAMERA SERIES
OUTSTANDING MAKEUP FOR A SINGLE-CAMERA SERIES (NON-PROSTHETIC)

Camera editing and especially casting are IMHO a much stronger show of support than Westworld wins which are mostly on the cosmetic side.

Also Alexis Bledel winning for guest actress in a drama series is a joke, though the category was a bit weak anyway.

Uh, Alexis was excellent in "Handmaid's Tale," particularly the episode in question she was nominated for. It's definitely more than deserved.

Feels like the big winners of creative arts Emmys end up not winning big on the night. We'll see what happens.

I think Stranger Things wins the big prize on Sunday. I also see maybe Millie Brown surprising in best supporting actress.

She sucks, but whatever. It's moot now since Ann Dowd won :D

I'm feeling a Handmaid's sweep.

Yea, I'm definitely picking the most anti Trump movie to win Best Picture this year

Interesting night for streaming war. Hulu's advantage in pre-existing properties is eventually going to be so huge compared to Netflix, that making up any ground in original content buzz spells trouble for the latter

Not a single award for Stranger Things on the night.Too bad. Seems like they went with the best choice last week, but went anti-Trump last night. Of course I haven't seen The Handmaid's Tale yet.

Trump and his supporters want to enslave women!

Post subject:  Re: The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards

Some random thoughts:

-Julia winning for the sixth straight time is damn historic. I'm not at all opposed to it, although I think there are many deserving women, especially this year (Pamela Adlon was completely underrated after a career of voice acting and minimal roles). Definitely disproves that old Seinfeld curse, paired with Jerry continuing to thrive with a Netflix deal. Jason Alexander and Michael Richards remain, however, in post-Seinfeld purgatory.

-I'm anxious to watch The Handmaid's Tale to see if the wins were deserved. I wish we could kill the "OMG I WON?!!?!" reactions. Ann Dowd, you were nominated. You had a chance to win. No need to feign shock.

-Solid double wins for Donald Glover. I've almost forgotten how good Atlanta was, so it's nice not everyone has forgotten.

-SNL's big night feels a bit forced. Making headlines for political sketches that largely wrote themselves isn't worth three major awards. More often than not, SNL is as mediocre as ever. Alec Baldwin especially feels like a slap in the face for actors that work every week. I'm guessing Emmy rules forced him to submit in supporting rather than guest.

-Sterling K. Brown deserved his win. I'm a tad disappointed Ron Cephas Jones didn't win as well in supporting. But you just can't ignore John Lithgow playing Winston Churchill.

-The Stranger Things snubs suck. I didn't expect David Harbour to win, and part of me thought a win for Millie Bobby Brown would be really cool, but it definitely deserved Writing and/or Directing, as well as Drama Series.

-Stephen Colbert wasn't bad, but his style was basically the same as The Late Show. His spark of The Colbert Report has long since vanished, and he gets by with all-too-obvious liberal humour that doesn't really add anything to the miles and miles of anti-Trump material. And I could have done without the Sean Spicer cameo. It was equal parts funny and cringey, but it served to normalize what is another Trump reject, and I don't think it's good to give someone like him a platform to enjoy some more spotlight.

Julia also previously won for New Adventures of Old Christine so she was done with that "curse" long ago.

True, but that felt like a fluke, especially considering that despite its multi-year run, most don't remember Old Christine exists.

Thing Is, Julia deserves to win these 6 years in a row. She's that good
