The new Netflix animated series from DreamWorks and Guillermo del Toro (who created the series and directs the first two episodes) premiered on Netflix yesterday with 26 episodes for its first season. The voice cast includes Anton Yelchin (in one of his final roles), Kelsey Grammar, Ron Perlman, Steven Yeun, Amy Landecker and Jonathan Hyde. It was originally developed as a DreamWorks feature before del Toro decided it would be best served as a TV series.
I started it yesterday and have watched ten episodes so far. I don't watch any animated television but decided to check it out as I'm a fan of del Toro, and it's very entertaining and fun so far. The visuals are outstanding (the creature design is very del Toro) and there's a nostalgia flair to it that was also present in
"Stranger Things" that makes it a very easy watch. It's also heavily serialized and I'm intrigued by the storyline. Yelchin and particularly Kelsey Grammar are doing outstanding voice work.
