A few notes: - No. 31 is the frequently self-indulgent, yet often magnificent and incredibly well-acted Vinyl. I still secretly wish we could see a tightened, focused second season. - Series which would fall into the 32-40 range are established or even aging ones I still find entertaining, but do not feel were particularly at their best or most inspired in 2016: House of Cards, The Last Man on Earth, The Walking Dead, Wentworth, Daredevil... And two new comics-derived programs I enjoyed without loving: Preacher and Luke Cage. Or at least Preacher, which provided a significant dose of delirious, genre-bending genius at its best. Luke Cage is a bit dull and formless, but I willed myself to say, "All right, this will do. Onward to The Defenders." - Penny Dreadful in the last spot is a punishment. ![]() - My mind was on scripted/fictional content, but cheers to Survivor, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and a few others. - I still need to watch season two of The Man in the High Castle. |

I just started "Man In The High Castle" season 2, which could make the list as I loved the first season. Also need to start "Mozart In The Jungle" season 3, but that won't make the list. The worst show I watched start to finish? Probably "Luke Cage," which was a total slog to get through. The long-running show that I'm still watching that's been particularly terrible as of late? "Modern Family." |

I am afraid that there is no way to put this without sounding offensive, but the question really stems from curiosity and not from any ill will or from being condescending: Do you guys have not very demanding jobs or little social life activities? Because, by God, I wish I could follow even half as many series as you do. I simply can't for the lack of time. And I am already down to about 4-5 hours of sleep a night during the week to even accomodate work, social life, private moviegoing and the few TV series I still do follow (never more than 4-5 at once). |

It is not so hard to watch a few shows most weeknights, from around 8:30 or 9 to 11. Also, not every series listed airs within a single month. They are spread throughout twelve months. My job in elementary special education is demanding in several ways, but it is a day job with regular hours. |

But you only listed 30 and I assume there were far more than 30. And apparently way over 65 for thompsoncory. And on some weeknights you might go out to the movies. Or do something else like go for a drink with someone. I dunno. I have been watching "Luke Cage" for almost two months now, eight episodes in. Seen six episodes of "Designated Survivor" in four weeks, four episodes of "The Get Down" in six weeks and maybe 5-6 episodes of "Modern Family" and 12 episodes of "The Goldbergs" in three months. That is all I have managed to watch series-wise since September. |

I work in the film/TV business so it's just second nature to me. I'm usually busy weeknights now but find time to catch up during the weekend or binging, etc. |

I almost never watch anything live anymore. I think the only thing I even watched live close to half the time this year was "Westworld." |

Post subject: | Re: Top ten television series of 2016 |
If I want to go out, I go out and don't watch TV. I do not live and die by any particular viewing schedule. When a series only airs every couple days, it is particularly easy to stay up-to-date. "Oh, Westworld (or Game of Thrones, or The Night Of, etc.) aired last night. Let me spend 55 or so minutes watching it on HBO Go on Monday." With seasons released in their entirety, it depends. I became obsessed with The OA and burned through the eight episodes at lightning speed. I watched Luke Cage over the course of around two months. |

What David said, basically. I also have a ton of shows that basically act as background noise for me while I do other things now, like "Modern Family" or "Grey's Anatomy." |

I'm more like Dr. Lecter, sadly the last 6 months I have not seen much of my shows at all, not because of lack of time but because I am just tired and disconnected from things leading to not enjoying TV shows or movies as much if I watch them, and I'm waiting for better days to watch seasons of shows I'll only get to watch once. Not to mention when I'm a month behind on WWE for the same reasons, chopping down that queue before the gap really gets long, tends to feel like a bigger priority than shows that aren't going to be adding any new episodes for a while. With that said, it helps that I dislike every Netflix Original anyways so I have no apprehension about falling behind on their flood of shows |

I don't get much time for TV. The best I can usually do is give up on films for a few weeks while I catch episodes late at night. I try to binge 2-3 at once, but it's tough, so I usually just watch shorter 6-part sitcoms, preferably British ones. From what I can remember, this is all I've watched this year: 1. Our Ex-Wife 2. Homeland (S5) 3. Upstart Crow 4. Stranger Things |
