They just did with "The Get Down."

Netflix has got to figure out a better way to handle their launches if they really want to just inundate everyone with content like they seem to be doing. I'm convinced that "Girlboss," "The Get Down," "Dear White People" and "Sense8" all got completely lost in the shuffle this year due to the insane popularity and conversation around "13 Reasons Why." They barely give their shows any time to breathe now before launching another one. I feel like even this season of "House of Cards" got minimal media coverage because people were more focused on the launches of "Orange Is The New Black" and to a lesser extent "Kimmy Schmidt."

I'm also convinced "Sense8" and its cancellation is a publicity stunt. They've randomly started promoting it and the cast has been doing publicity rounds (a bunch were at an NYC awards show this past week). It just feels off. I'm probably crazy but one can dream ;)

It would be clever, lol. Way more people have discussed Sense8 post-cancellation than they did during its actual run. And Netflix can be pride-month heroes when they renew it. ;)

It is a shame ABC cancelled the cute Downward Dog.

This is what I mean ;) Something feels off. Especially since the viewership (particularly internationally) seems to be significantly higher than these other shows they are cutting. They also took like 4 months to renew it when it was TBD for season 2.

I'm also convinced because they have apparently been actively promoting it to Emmy voters (including the Christmas special as a TV movie) and sent screeners out, etc. That didn't happen for the other cancelled series.

Given the wait for season 2 I don't mind an extended delay if they do push for another season. I need to keep my hope alive ;) I just need a two hour movie to wrap things up - would be better than the subpar season of "Bloodline" we got.

My gut is telling me it's a stunt so let's hope I'm right.

Girlboss, on the other hand, seemed cancelled the day it was released. Of course, in the past Netflix renewed other series of which this is true, notably Flaked.

I wonder what is going on with HBO's Vice Principals. It is my understanding the second season was filmed at the same time as the first, and the first season premiered in July last year. I believe it did fairly well for HBO, even if it didn't set the proverbial water cooler on fire. I expected a bit of news regarding the airing of the new season by now.

Seriously? I don't get why. They dumped it in the summer, and still it maintained decent numbers with zero help, and had good reviews. I imagine someone at the network didn't like the unusual dramedy aspect? It's easily one of the most bizarre experiments I've seen on network TV, but I loved it.

Yeah, apparently they were fans of it creatively but couldn't figure out a way to make the financials work. They are shopping it around.

"Still Star-Crossed" was also quietly cancelled by them, though that's not surprising at all. The network clearly hated it and the rumor is they were trying to sell it but had no takers. They definitely only aired it out of obligation to Shonda.

Unless Sense8 can get the budget to $1m per episode as opposed to almost $10m I don't think it has any chance of coming back. I mean $1 per episode is already bigger than 95% shows nowadays have anyway. And Netflix has so much new content coming out nearly every week that it's a miracle they renew as many series as they do.

"The Carmichael Show" has been cancelled after 3 seasons. It sounds like it was because Jerrod Carmichael wanted to leave the show though and not necessarily a move by NBC.

Maybe due to the friction over the mass-shooting-themed episode NBC ultimately pulled.

I wonder if Gypsy will be another one-and-done Netflix series. It has premiered with absolutely zero fanfare, comparable to season two of Flaked.

For sure, and unless it overcomes the negative buzz Friends From College should join it

I watched all of "Gypsy" and while I thought Naomi Watts and Sophie Cookson were great it really did go nowhere. It was visually pretty cool though. I thought the reviews were too harsh. It was certainly better than the dumpster fire that was "House of Cards" season 5.

It sounds interesting, but sounds like it will upset a lot of SJWs.

It wasn't very good. It ends on a cliffhanger so sucks for the people who liked it.

Netflix renewed Ozark for a second season.

I am surprised they have not canceled Flaked yet.
