OK fine I've took a turn on the other sibling stories. They've been pretty good. But man, the therapist scene last night was killer. Pamela Adlon is a NATIONAL TREASURE and unbelievably underappreciated.

Randall was close, but then he disregarded everything she said and doubled down on his hero complex

Haven't seen this yet but I'm so glad Pamela Adlon is getting some great acting work. One of the more successful jumps from primarily voice acting to live action acting.

Man Randall and Kevin's low blows fight was a crazy scene. Very well directed.

Kevin may have twins with Madison but I still think he marries someone else. I would guess Sophie and Cassidy are in next season based on having a scene in this episode, which wouldn't be necessary if it was all about Madison going forward.

Post Re: This Is Us
Finally watched the finale. I was expecting it to be more emotional, but man, it was still good. Those words between Randall and Kevin were killer. But Kevin showed immediate regret while I don't think Randall had any regret for what he said first. I'm anxious to see if they show Randall having more of a breakdown of his character next season.

Wedding ring on Nicky's hand in the future scene. I hope that means Griffin Dunne remains with the show next season, he's been a great addition to the cast. I missed him in the second half of the season.

So does this mean Randall and Kevin don't speak at all until they meet at Rebecca's bedside in the future?

I also hope we get more of Rebecca and Miguel's relationship beginnings next season. We've been kept in the dark mostly of them getting together.

Kevin has to get back with Sophie before the show ends right? Although I'm curious about the Cassidy appearance. If it's not Sophie, it could be her. But in the short term, he's engaged by their 40th birthday (as seen in the Thanksgiving episode). Will that be Madison? I remember him saying his fiancee is sick in that flash forward, but don't remember if it was morning sickness.

Damn, it's a long wait until September, if it even comes back by then.

Predictions

- It’s revealed Kevin has a new “big 3” - 2 kids with Madison, 1 kid with a different wife (Sophie/Cassidy)
- Kevin falls for Madison eventually, but she dies in childbirth due to complications from being bulimic
- Rebecca thinks Nicky is Jack in the flash forward, so he put on the ring to make it easier for her
- Kevin and Randall make up within a year of their fight.

The Randall's mother episode and the birth episode were both great

Gave up long ago? It's only Season 5 and shorter-than-normal seasons at that.

I love this show. I hated Kevin in the first season, but I find his storyline the most interesting right now personally. Still dealing with his father's death years later, I feel a connection to that.

I thought they crow-barred COVID into the storyline a little too forcefully at first and made it too much of the focal point, but it's good now.

The amount of time and care they put into Nicky's storyline is wonderful. His evolution since Season 3 (and since we found out he wasn't dead like Jack said) has been one of the most lovely storylines. I'm also glad they brought back Jennifer Morrison to show us their cute friendship. Griffin Dunne was fantastic in that scene with the twins.

Great episode this week with a complicated subject, I wish they admitted Randall has as many flaws as Kevin, but maybe that will be a future episode

I think Kevin and Madison still end up together. Madison has been a much more developed/better character than Sophie. I saw Kate and Toby breaking up in the future coming though not her getting remarried.

The episode with
Spoiler: show
Jack's mom, Marilyn's funeral
was the best since
Spoiler: show
the reveal of how Jack died in Season 2 (Super Bowl Episode)
. While this season is a far cry off of the first two seasons, I'm still riding this out. At least, Beth and Randall have been solid this season as well as
Spoiler: show
Edie
and Nicky.

Mandy Moore was great in her dinner table monologue

The next three episodes being a big 3 trilogy should be great. And 10 straight weeks of episodes.

The divorce storyline was done well... no forced drama like an infidelity, just years of bad communication, feeling like one side sacrificed more, resentment, and then relationship being dead

The show hadn't really gotten me for a few years but Rebecca's song :tears: Actually writing a new one/taking from the show's end credits theme song instead of doing the usual Joni Mitchell worked well

I don't mind the Sophie drawn out storyline but I feel like they didn't do the best job explaining what's so special about her, she always just came off as a kind of a normal girl/nurse that Kevin happened to make up his mind about when they were 10. They kind of addressed that she's Kevin's symbol of his lost youth and Jay Gatsby's green light in the distance by his comment about her shampoo, but then they just went with them being soulmates anyways. I think casting Alexandra Breckenridge after she got exposure with Walking Dead messed them up since after they didn't make her a castmember the first time she went on to get a Netflix show and probably wasn't available for more episodes than this. Otherwise I think it would have worked better if they made Kevin get together with her in Season 5 and then as full time castmember made the audience get to know her more in the last season and had Kevin learn to fall for the adult version and not just the teenage memory.

Saw it coming but think the Miguel episode broke my waterworks record for this show... the Rebecca one is gonna kill me

The juxtaposition of Kevin being the one who wasn't cool with the relationship, and then by the end doing so much for Miguel like helping them get up in the morning and convincing his estranged son to reconnect, and then pouring his ashes in PR, was just a beautiful touch.

As I expected Rebecca's death being in the 2nd last episode made it harder to get into the finale emotionally, but it did fit the show's philosophy and I liked the big 3 talking together one last time and Jack in the flashbacks. Overall a fantastic show. I look forward to rewatching it all one day.
