Anyone else watch the premiere last night?

I did and found it super charming! I'm a big Kristen Bell fan but the writing was incredibly sharp and funny and the visuals were gorgeous and reminiscent of "Pushing Daisies." This is definitely a unique show so I'm not sure how it will end up doing, but I'm a fan. It's also nice to both have Bell on a series that isn't garbage and a show I can watch on NBC again after a total drought last year.

Just finished watching it. Thought it was OK. Not laugh out loud funny. More cute than anything else. The concept feels very limited though.

I think the fact that it only will have 13 episodes a season will help it.

I really liked this. Shades of Samantha Who?, kind of. Kristen Bell is a treasure.

Is that true? I can't seem to find where it will only be 13 episodes if the show took off.

Well, they gave it a straight to series 13 episode order (it bypassed pilot season). I dunno if that means more episodes are possible.

TVLine confirmed it was 13 episodes and done this season in their review:

I'm assuming it was because Kristen Bell has been adamant about being around for her kids, and also so she can keep doing films.

I loved it. But I'm also a big Kristen Bell fan. She's great on it. I laughed out loud at least a couple times. Hope it will do well enough to stick around. I think ratings will drop off a huge amount after last night's sampling. I don't see it being embraced by a big audience but it will definitely have a following.

I could see Kristen winning the Golden Globe for this.

Yeah, it's a niche show. It will probably settle around 3 Million a week.

It's probably safe for a second season if it can hold onto 60-75% of Superstore's audience.

Still just cute not funny. While I was watching pilot I actually expected Jianyu would have a scene with Eleanor where he would go crazy and yell he cannot stand Tahani and that's why he's keeping his mouth shut. So not a big plot twist there.

I don't get this long pause. Especially as it only has what, 4 episodes left?

It's because NBC has Thursday Night Football which they paid an exorbitant amount of money to air.

I really love this show. It's so funny, builds a fascinating world and consistently surprises me with the story turns.

The twist in the finale was SO clever. NBC, please renew this.

It was a good twist. I would like to see a second season. It's not a funny show as in you'll laugh your ass off, but it's a cute thing to watch.

I finally finished Season 1 the other night and that twist was INSANE!!!!! Did not see that coming at all. So glad it was renewed for a second season.

We may as well just change this to the official thread and not by season.

Anyway, I thought last night's episode was great. Better than the premiere. Really clever.

The premiere basically just redid the entire concept created by the finale. It was good but a waste of two episodes. Haven't seen the next yet, but I do love this show.

I'm not feeling this season so far. I liked last season's format where it was basically one big continues story cut into episodes. I'm really tired of the do-overs this season. The editing wasn't really good to make it funny. But I did like how the third episode ended. Hopefully that "twist" is what the season will be about. It will be interesting to see the roles reversed.

Yes, this season should've kicked off with episode 3. I like the new plot. This show was never laugh out loud funny but it's cute to watch.

Is it just me or is Jason being even more (needlessly) dumbed down this season?

I'm definitely digging it. It took the idea and turned it on its head. I'll be curious to see how far they'll go with the show, especially since ratings have been certainly decent so far.

I enjoy the world of The Good Place and Bell, Danson and Janet are awesome, but the show feels a little bit underbaked, it's not quite funny, but is not quite deep emotionally. The flashbacks in particular don't work. But dammit those cliffhangers get me. Up to episode 10

The combination of the twist at the end of season 1 and the failed attempt montages at the start of Season 2 was brilliant, but a few episodes after that I'm beginning to feel the show has likely shot its wad in terms of the serialized story, in addition to the reset and going in circles making Eleanor's secret come out after like 7 episodes and making her a good person after 13 was moving pretty fast

I loved that the series is always surprising and resetting itself. The twists is what made Season 1 great, I am behind in Season 2 but will catch it eventually. Really lovely series and yes its not LOL but I don't think its ever meant to be.
