Post Are reboots the future of TV?
With the triumphant return of The X Files, along with 24: Live Another Day, Fuller House, Girl Meets World, Heroes Reborn, Twin Peaks, and Arrested Development, will TV become like movies and simply be a sea of rebooted shows from yesteryear?

I really hope for a Lost reboot.

The only one of those that's actually good is Girl Meets World.

You've seen new Twin Peaks? Wow.

But networks will try to bring more familiar shows back. It's not easy to find new shows that will get good ratings. Look at the movie industry. It's all about franchises and spin offs. It's not hard to imagine TV business will become the same. But all of those won't sustain initial interest for long. So it's only short lived or mini runs that can keep up the interest IMHO and end up with successful "revivals".

24: Live Another Day was a solid series, while The X-Files is off to a good start. But I don't consider either to be reboots. Live Another Day continued the overall arc of 24. 24: Legacy sounds like a reboot. Meanwhile, same goes for X-Files. It's a continuation, not a reboot.

What's next? Friends and Seinfeld are obvious nos. for fox they have been working on a Married with Children spinoff. Maybe That 70s show could work.

CBS, I got nothing.

I think once Law and Order ends they could come back with Meloni. Maybe ER.

Gandolfini dying ruled out the obvious Sopranos, which could have worked.

What are other reboots you want. I'm sure Star Trek is always on someone's mind. Maybe Monk or cable shows?

I can see a future in it, but there are very few titles left.

I'd love it if Curb your Enthusiasm came back

Angel Season 6 would be cool. And speaking of Whedon, Firefly. Though he probably wouldn't do both

A Freaks and Geeks thing with the characters in middle age could work

That 70's Show ended on December 31st 1979. They can't bring the show back and call it like that. And That 80's Show is already taken by that awful spin-off.

Star Trek will probably get a new series. Though I don't think it will be a reboot. It will continue in the universe where previous shows were.

I think the only version even close to production is one about starfleet academy.

You need Apatow, Segal, Rogen, and Franco. That shit will never happen, and the network will never bring back a show that wasn't popular (Don't castrate me, I understand that is an extremely popular cult show) I'm talking shows with a real chance though. I'm sure Baywatch could always return like 90210 or Melrose did.

Dear god Quantam Leap could rock. They've been talking about that for years

Meh it depends on how long the series is. If the whole show is like 4 episodes it's not that bad a commitment. Franco and Rogan weren't top 5 characters in importance in the original series so their roles could be extended cameos really if they were too big of stars for it. As for marketability once it has all those names that would help sell it like the ones in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

Other possibilities: We're already scratching the bottom here though, the latter would have to be cast revamps. I think we've already mentioned the only cast continuations.

Tales from the Crypt (I mean anthology shows are back, and those always brought great casts and stories)
Fresh Prince (Most of the cast still seems to be great friends, even if we did lose Uncle Phil)
Cartoons like Doug, Rugrats, even Flintstones I'm sure could return.
Chips
MacGyver
The A-Team
Could Mission Impossible ever return to TV? The Last film could have been like 3 episodes.
Maverick
The Addams Family
Miami Vice
NYPD Blue
Psych (Yes please!)

I really, really, REALLY want a Quantum Leap continuation. Sadly, Dean Stockwell is unlikely to be able to reprise his role as Al (long story), but I think it'd be cool if maybe they had Sam Leap back to the Project in the opening episode, but only because his daughter Sammy Jo Leaped in an attempt to get him back. And now suddenly she's the Leaper, and then one of Al's four daughters could be her Observer.

GOD, I want a Quantum Leap continuation.

It never made any sense why it was cancelled. I won so many awards, and the last episode was watched by like 23 million people. The ending was so ambiguous. Now Bakula stars on the producers NCIS NL., so hopefully it can come back. There is literally so much that can be done, especially with 20+ years of a new timeline.

Check out Source Code if you've never seen it. It's almost a child of Quantam leap. And one the best moments is Bakula cameos as his father and says "Oh boy"

I'd love a new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Not sure I'd call that a reboot, though.

With the X Files success and networks desperation this seems like it will be a thing.

The OC feels like the right type of remembered show that could be a hit in a reboot and is Fox. But Gotham doesn't feel like it will be cancelled anytime soon, plus Mischa's character being dead is unfortunate

With Roseanne scoring a 5.1, it's fair to say we will be getting some more revivals

ABC should bring back Home Improvement, Step By Step, Family Matters, Married With Children, etc... Pair some of these with Roseanne.

And I NEED Veronica Mars back!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny that they are talking about about bringing back Last Man Standing and not Home Improvement. It wouldn't be the same without Wilson or Al though. Mad About you is picking up some steam too, I think Magnum PI is too (Or is that just a film)

I'm Sure Sex in the City could come back as some crazy Golden Girls reboot. I'm sure it'll never happen but Steve Urkel or Saved by the Bell could work as well. And of course a Monk/Psych/Burn Notice movie.

Jaleel White has a strong hatred for playing Urkel, so unless it's a remake, I doubt he'd do it.

So because Rosanne is doing well that means every comedy sitcom of the past 30 years will now be brought back? Oh jesus.
