Well, I was a huge fan of season 1 and felt the storyline for season 2 was great. A bit long in the tooth but the season long arc for Justin and Ben ending up being explosive. Considering it wasn't the lowest rated drama on HBO makes the cancellation somewhat strange. Any other Carnivale fans out there? |

I liked it, and own the DVD's. It wasn't my favorite because although I really liked Samson and Jonsey, the lead character Ben drove me crazy because he was always so morose. |

btw Loyal, I think the cancellation has alot to do with production cost especially the costuming and the argameddon type storms, fire, carny settings. The Stand wasnt exactly cheap to produce. I can see where they are getting at if The Wire produces the same ratings as Carnivale but at half the production cost of Carnivale |

Period dramas are really expensive. Which is why I hope Rome gets great ratings. [-o< |

Its one of the reasons why shows like X-Files and Hercules were able to stay so long on the air despite their large production cost since they relied alot on selling merchandise and forming conventions. Is Rome shot in New Zeland or something to keep cost down? |

Is Rome shot in New Zeland or something to keep cost down? It was filmed in Cinecitta. I'm not sure if Italy offered a tax break or not. The show is a co- production of BBC and HBO so that'll help the bottom line some. |
