True Detective aired in Q1 of 2014 so it would really qualify for last year...

I don't know the cut off points for whatever you have listed here, but "2014-2015", to me, includes Q1 of 2014.

Most TV shows don't run their seasons from Q1-Q4. They usually run Q3-Q2.

It didn't make sense with what Algren is saying since True Detective aired in january 2014. If he meant for season 2, its too premature if the reviews are mixed and he has not seen one episode

Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Liv Tyler, Regina King, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Christopher Eccleston, Janel Moloney and Kevin Carroll all would make my list for best of 2015 in terms of performances for "The Leftovers." I can't at how phenomenal they all were. This is what SAG Ensemble awards are made for.

Since you guys are in list mode, just curious what your top 5/10 shows of the 2010s are, as in starting after 2010? It becomes a curious question since without Mad Men and Breaking Bad it eliminates the last of the era where the rankings were more consensus driven

Hitfix.com's TV critics poll, which is probably the best answer to criticstop10 for TV as it gets http://www.hitfix.com/news/tvcriticspoll/

1. Fargo
2. The Americans
3. Mad Men
4. Transparent
5. Better Call Saul
6. Game of Thrones
7. The Leftovers
8. Mr. Robot
9. The Jinx
10. Veep

Fargo was #1 last year as well, the two years in the poll before that was Breaking Bad domination

Post subject:  Re: The best in TV: 2014-2015

Weird thing I noticed on best of lists: Every sign was Broad City's Season 2's reviews were stronger than Season 1, it went from 75 in Season 1 to 89 in Season 2 on MC, on RT from 96% with an 8/10 average rating in Season 1 to 100% with a 9/10 average rating in Season 2. But then check out these drops:

Hit fix poll: Ranks 9th in 2014, 47th in 2015
AV Club: Ranks 2nd in 2014, 33rd in 2015
Vox: Ranks 5th in 2014, 23rd in 2015

It's hard not to suggest that TV critics nowadays are to an extent PR-driven, stuff like pushing You're the Worst's depression arc is hot right now and Broad City isn't, it's not about the art in a vacuum
