The framing is my favorite part.

Finally catching up on this (just finished episode 2). Damn, it's good. Still shocked it's a USA show.

This sounds like it was written by someone who only watches basic cable.

I wasn't really liking this show, but I got to episode 4 and the Elliot dream sequence was fantastic.

My love of this series slightly lowered once we learn Mr. Robot/Slater is a Tyler Durden. Not to a huge degree, but ever so slightly. Perhaps because I prefer when the focus is Elliot versus the world (interacting with his boss, interacting with Tyrell, exploring other people's lives via their online activity) versus Elliot inside his own head.

Alright, I just finished episode 6. That ending with Shayla was such a gut punch and so sad. Mr. Robot might be the first show since Breaking Bad ended to give me the same "horror in the pit of my stomach" feeling continuously.

Just watched episode 8.

WHAT. THE. F.

I just got double whammy blindsided by Darlene being Elliot's sister and then Mr. Robot being his father. I mean, I knew something was up when Darlene greeted Angela at ballet class like they were very close friends when we've never seen them interact before but...

WHAT IS HAPPENING. omg i'm freaking out. lmao.

Finally finished binging. What an incredible first season. Rami Malek deserves an Emmy.

I'll probably meet Rami Malek and Christian Slater soon...any ideas on questions for them? I will only be able to see the pilot episode beforehand, so...

For Slater: did prior knowledge of the nature of your character impact your performance in earlier episodes? If so, how?

For Rami Malek: did you feel pressure to soften or warm your character? (Or another question related to how distant, flawed, and idiosyncratic the role is, particularly for a protagonist.)

Maybe a general question for both regarding their thoughts on the series' hyper-unique aesthetic and how conscious they were of it during production.

They were both pretty cool.

Malek said that he did not peceive his character as particularly cold or distant, but, for all his flaws, very human and relatable.

Slater said that he knew the nature of his character from the very beginning and that it did help him to establish a relationship with Malek's character, knowing that he was his father, he tried to imbue it with some warmth.

I also asked the showrunner, whether he is working towards a specific endgame and he says that he does. He wrote Mr. Robot as a movie first, before turing it into the TV series and he said that the ending he envisioned for the movie is still the same he will use for the series, but obviously the way there will be different.

He also mentioned Blackhat's lack of success, saying something like: "Hackers don't look like Chris Hemsworth, seriously, what the hell ws that?" Lol

Oh and personally I thought the pilot was great.

The corporations man. The 1% of the 1% man. Evil corp man.

The first episode was solid despite this, but gosh I don't know how much more of that I can take. Elliot's super deep and important reflections on society are fuckin obnoxious.

If they stick with the sci-fi stuff and keep having interesting things happen, we will be cool.

Yeah cory its already getting better. Episode 3 was the first one that was good front to back. Tyrell psyching himsef up and the awkward dinner party were my favorite parts thus far.

Maybe it's because of how inspired by Fight Club the entire show is, but I'm not fully convinced that Christian Slater is a real person.

Was anyone surprised at the Christian Slater twist? I know this show places little value on subtlety, but that was more obvious than Dexter season 6.

The show is still OK though. I'm interested to see how it all comes together, so I'll do that right now.

I must have missed something, what was the point of therapist and asshole boyfriend coming back at the beginning?

Finale didn't really change my opinion of the show. I'm interested to see what happens next which is what the hook of the show has always been. But man oh man scenes like Christian Slater making a huge anti-establishment speech in front of the masked crowd really make it seem like the show is written by 16 years olds who just watched V For Vendetta and are ever so upset they can't vote for Bernie Sanders.

The biggest reason to keep watching is the music. Really fit what they were trying to accomplish. Although it sometimes overpowered the dialogue, so they better get a better sound mixing guy. Tyrell started off as my favorite character but killing the woman was a boner move for the character and writers. "How disappointing" is right, he never had a plan after all. I do like the new evil corp guy though, and his chemistry with Angela will be another hook to draw me back in. We'll see. I'd give season 1 a B- and am 50/50 on coming back.

The season 2 premiere was incredible. So many chilling sequences. That whole Phil Collins sequence with the money burning was absolutely incredible and expertly staged. Also loved the 'smart house' scene and the last scene at the restaurant. Poor Gideon! I knew it was going to happen because he was in too deep but it was still sad.

Angela's character transformation is fascinating to me and I loved her scene in the office. Also can't wait to see what Darlene is up to now that she's the ringleader of sorts. I kept doubting to myself whether Elliot's interactions with Craig Robinson or Joey Bada$$'s characters were real. And I need to know what the fuck happened to Tyrell like yesterday.

Rami Malek better get an Emmy nomination this morning or I will rage.
