The end has finally come. I think what doomed them was no Simon Cowell, too lovey dovey, and the recent winners since the guy who did Home have been terrible.

The show found a perfect judging panel, but about three years too late. As fun as Steven Tyler was, his presence was more about "Haha, Steven Tyler is so silly and obviously not all there!" than actual judging. I believe if the current panel had been there since Simon left, it may have worked. At least Harry Connick Jr., who hopefully will get another show after this. He's too much fun to waste in DTV movies.

Season 8 was the creative/talent peak of American Idol and then it just came crashing down after that.

Arch ulema should have won I say! Lambert too though Kris isn't bad it just wasn't a contest. Oh and the girl who lost to Lee Dewyse was a Tragedy.

Katharine McPhee!!! Losing to Taylor freaking Hicks, that was a tragedy. :glare: Im still pissed about it LOL. At least she has a career in acting.

I have literally never been as invested in a reality TV series as I was during the Kris/Adam season 8 finale of Idol.

Those days feel so long ago, lol.

Oh yeah, The Kris/Adam final. That was Idol at its peak. I still remember being the only season I watched from the beggining to end.

Anyone else watch the finale last night?

I did despite not having seen a single episode this season and actually highly enjoyed it, though it was kind of hilarious how much the winner/announcement was such a non-factor in the grand scheme of things. It was definitely more about bringing past favorites back and everyone did a great job. As a fan of this show back in the day (I stopped after the original judging panel started leaving with Paula's departure but watched religiously until then) I was very satisfied with the major returns. They basically got every major contestant to come back and it was sweet seeing the original judging panel again.

Kelly still far and away remains the best winner this show has ever produced though.

Yeah I watched it. It was a nice sendoff, I was happy they brought so many people back (KClarks! Carrie! Fantasia, JHud and LaToya! All of the WGWG! Simon! Paula! ...Randy, I guess).

I watched Idol religiously from seasons 1 - seasons 9. And then when Lee Dewho was named the winner and Simon left I more or less stopped watching.
