Re: Homeland (Season 5) -- Headed to Europe
Season 4 was awesome so I'm psyched for this.

Apparently Season 5 will also skip some years.

Season 5 will be set in and shot in Germany (Berlin, specifically), Showtime confirmed today.

Re: Homeland (Season 5) -- Headed to Europe
I'm not sure about Homeland anymore...This looks kind of interesting because of the Europe angle, which I thought was pretty well done with the PSH movie A Most Wanted Man, that was good, I wouldn't mind seeing a series turned into that. There will be more action for sure which is also not a bad thing.
But Homeland, I got a bit tired of it midway through the 4th season, but I'll probably give this another try. Let's see if it sticks.

Re: Homeland (Season 5) -- Headed to Europe
I really liked the season premiere. Continuing with the muted, low-key nature of the season 4 finale, season 5 is starting off in large the same sedate sort of way.
I loved the internal push/pull of Carrie's settled domesticity in Berlin (omg Frannie is so cute) and the drive to jump back into what she left behind. As that rando hacker girl (?) said to her, "you can take the girl out of the CIA but..."
Really curious to see how things go now.

Re: Homeland (Season 5) -- Headed to Europe
Definitely digging the set-up for this season. Season 4 was really good overall. I thought it was kind of boring for a few episodes but the second half of the season got really great. Certainly a better season than Season 3.
I think this should hopefully be a good season. I like that we're starting fresh. Nice to see Carrie kind of settled. I do want Quinn and Carrie to be together eventually. I kinda love his character.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
Yeah, the whole last 20 minutes of Sunday's episode with Carrie's breakdown were incredible and insane.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
Carrie's scene where she filmed the video for Franny in the last episode was heartbreaking. Claire Danes should definitely be locked for another Emmy nom - between that scene and her breakdown the week prior this is some of her best work ever.
This season is really good.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
Just watched the finale last night. The last few scenes with Quinn were heartbreaking and Claire Danes was as fantastic as always. Also so glad that bitch Allison got what she deserved.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
I just started watching this. I binged the first four last night. It's good. Not as good as previous seasons, but it is getting better. It seems overly political, especially with a new land/system to get used to. It also seems a bit formulaic. Carrie going nuts and off her meds, Quinn killing people etc. But anyway, the plane just blew up and the ginger bitch is behind having Carrie as a mark. Episode five is poised to be a good one!

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
I watched the first episode, 7 months ago, haven't continued yet. It's a good show, but I got out of it a bit. I might finish this season at some point.

The first episode wasn't great. But I had time so I continued. It gets better, but I totally understand why you did not carry on.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
Watched another three episodes. This is getting very good. Quinn's story is great, though they seem to be concentrating more on Carrie and Saul's, which is also great.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
Up to episode 9. Quinn's just been gassed and Carr has been caught. It's getting good, but still not the intensity of the previous seasons. They just cannot seem to reach that level while in Germany. Kind of nothing happens. And Saul is not very well written this time around.

 Re: Homeland (Season 5)
Ok, so I finished it. It was good. Still an engrossing watch. But my least favourite of all the seasons. The foiled terrorist attack left me feeling as if the series was empty somehow. Carrie saves the day yet again and still nobody ever (EVER) follows her theories or listens to her intel - it is the part of the Homeland formula which I have now grown tired of. I mean, she has been right so many damn times, isn't anyone just going to stand up and say "Hey, I think we should just do whatever that girl's hunch says to do". Well, anyway, she won't have to deal with that anymore. I really wish they would just end it here. They set up a bunch of stuff for Season 6, which I guess will still involve Germany, Carrie, Otto, and Saul. Could be good, and I will obviously watch another season. I just don't want it to get so eye-roll inducing that I begin to hate it because this show is fantastic. A few things about the last few episodes: Why would Saul and the German authorities instantly assume that Allison pointed them in the wrong direction with regards to the destination of the attack? Why did nobody assume that the professor (Dr. Aziz) pointed them in the wrong direction? At least, don't claim she's lying until forensics can prove that her little story about the professor taking the gun and killing the black dude was a lie (and that would take days for forensic investigators to prove). Until that point, he actually could have tried to divert their attention to the airport. I think the writers just could not wait for that - they'd written themselves into a corner a little bit, and they needed to get out of it. It is a small hole, nothing major. Another thing that I noticed; the accents were off. Her German boyfriend, Jonas, had this lovely, soft Germanic-sounding accent up until around episode 10, then he sounded confidently neutral/American. Quite weird. But I am not surprised. I mean, Quinn, the Yank, played by the Brit, Rupert Friend, never sounds American. All in all, a very solid TV show. Such a shame about Quinn. And Carrie should just be Otto's wife. He has the financial clout and the temperament to really care for her and her daughter, and to be honest, she's so fucking lucky to keep having strong men around that want to care for her. I mean, she is so unstable, yet they flock to her. One of my best parts of the series was when Saul repeatedly slams Allison against the wall. Awesome scene, and she was right about Saul. He is a very angry man. So it was nice to see him unleash a bit of anger.
