So I started watching Game of Thrones and Sherlock and love them both. Took me a while to finally start GoT, while I never had any interest in Sherlock until I finally did the first episode on Netflix on a whim.

So figured I'd start a thread for when you finally start watching a show that's either a few years old or even finished. Anyone watching anything new this summer?

Nathan for You on Comedy Central. Can't believe how amazingly funny it is.

It's like a golden era for them right now - Key & Peele, Kroll Show, Inside Amy Schumer, along with the always great Colbert and Stewart. I also hear Broad City and Review are great.

I love both shows to death. The production values are just out of this world good.

Just started watching...Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

It's crap. But I am determined to finish it just so I can say that I have seen all of the Terminator productions out there, and so I can grade them all.

Great thread idea, by the way.

Terminator: TSCC I remember sucking for most of its run, but I always wanted it to get better. Season 2 has a few episodes that show the potential the series had, especially towards the end, but they squandered a good idea by making it too bland and too boring for most of its 31 episode run.

It's TV at its most generic. The script is just recycled from a hundred other programmes. Basically, every episode plays out like this: John finds something out, his mother asks about it, he says it's nothing, Terminator threat, some talk about the future and John stares at something that won't be there when the war arrives (a deer, perhaps) and that's somehow supposed to show him as philanthropic, then the Terminator threat is eliminated, end of show. In the middle of all of that, it has typical TV-show acting. People stare at each other for unusually long periods of time. People take forever to say simple sentences (in order to pad out the show to a full 45 mins). People quite noticeably look off-camera while still keeping the camera in their peripheral vision. People sigh before every line of dialogue etc. etc.

It's an awful show and the producers ought to be ashamed of themselves. I cannot believe for the life of me that this is the same production company (C2 Pictures) that made Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

I cannot believe my eyes when I see reviews that are calling it good. Just by looking on its Wikipedia page, I am shocked and appalled at the level to which reviewers drop their own standards when reviewing for TV compared to film.

This is the part where I say once again that everyone needs to catch up on The Good Wife who hasn't.

I've been too busy this summer to really catch up on a show. Hmm.

Sell me on The Good Wife in one sentence.

It's been the only network drama series to come anywhere close to major awards nominations for years on end.

Every major character actor that you know and love has probably already guest starred on it or will at some point, since it has the best cast on television.

This summer I binge-watched "Masters Of Sex" and obviously "Orange Is The New Black," and am currently watching "Ally McBeal." I've been tempted to do a "Lost" rewatch soon as well.

I've been trying to watch Mad Men but I'm only on episode 6 of season 1. And I'm trying to watch season 3 of Scandal. I'd also like to start watching Lost but idk if I'll do that soon.

Do it. "Lost" is my personal favorite show of all time. That and "Friday Night Lights."

The awards show thing didn't sell me, Libs. But I'm willing to overlook it and start it this week.

The Good Wife is better than GoT. And that comes from someone who is a huge fan of the book and I even was an extra on GoT. The cast and guest stars are brilliant. And part of it is because they really have great characters to work with.

Now THERE is a sell!

I hope you were near Emilia Clarke!

They were only filming Dany scenes in my town, so yeah I was close to her. We were all collectively shivering because it was very windy and cold. Her advice was to think of Hawaii, which seemed a bit naive as probably none of us extras will ever see Hawaii in our life and usually it's hot as fuck here anyway.

I signed up for this year as well! Hopefully I get to do it again.

Pretty much every genre show can build up a passionate audience. And they will always say "yeah it sucks at first, but just you wait!"

But truthfully TSCC does suck at first... but just you wait!

I'm 6 episodes into Season 2 of TSCC and it's still God awful crap. There's no way it will turn itself around so much.

Post subject:  Re: Just started watching...

It won't. It was a pretty shitty series overall. Sometimes there were glimpses of good ideas, but the writers of the show were probably the worst bunch in TV business today. Everything was poorly plotted and the dialogues were awful. The ending of season two is probably the worst thing the show ever did. So stupid.

I just watched Episode 8 of Season 2 and it's the best one yet. It's the one where they are down in Mexico and they kill Cromartie. Grade: D ;)

Game of Thrones is such an amazing show! I put off watching it because it didn't particularly interest me. The first season kind of bored me, it had some good stuff. Season 2 is when the ball starts rolling and after that point I was addicted. So glad I stuck with it because now it is my favorite show on television.

I just finished episode 9 of Season 2 (Blackwater), which could have been on the big screen. I found Season 1 stellar, even though I knew what was coming, but Season 2 started off a bit slow for me. Finally picked up halfway through.
