Ann Dowd was fantastic last night.

Episode 9 was absolutely brilliant. Obsessed with this show.

The finale was stunning. It made me cry a few times (Kevin's whole monologue at the diner was heartbreaking) and had an overwhelming sense of dread leading up to the chaos that occurred in the final act. The nearly wordless 15-minute opening was fantastic as was the edge of your seat destruction of the neighborhood at the end of the episode. I was so worried Nora was going to kill herself when she started writing that letter, and was glad that didn't happen. Very interested to see what occurs in season 2. Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon and Ann Dowd should all get awards consideration for this show without question.

Interesting finale. The show was imperfect and had a lot of WTF moments but it also had sprinkles of brilliance that made it one of the more audacious things airing right now.

Personally I think Justin Theroux and Carrie Coon should get Emmy nominations. Amy Brenneman too, perhaps.

The second season will reportedly be set in Texas, and many first-season cast members may not return, though Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, and the actors playing Theroux's children are confirmed. (Liv Tyler's continued involvement is unclear.)

I heard they are trying to find ways to still incorporate Liv Tyler and Ann Dowd. My guess is both will recur.

Also, I think HBO slotting this in a more prestigious fall premiere slot (while airing "True Detective" in the summer) shows a lot of faith and confidence from the network on this show's prospects.

Ann Dowd is to this series what Tobin Bell was to the Saw franchise. And death shall have no dominion...when it comes to continued appearances.

OMG LOOKS SO GOOD. I CAN'T WAIT!

The second season starts tonight.

A wild hour. The people involved with this series were not fooling around when they said they were significantly rebooting/retooling it. And I dig it. It instantly drew me in again. The new actors are fantastic, and I am sure those returning will continue to shine, too, particularly Carrie Coon.

The premiere was chilling and absolutely fantastic. It really feels more like a sequel to the events of the first season than anything else. So glad to have this show back.

They're fine, but I loved the opening credits for season 1 so much that I was disappointed when they didn't return.

Fascinating and intense episode tonight. This season is very boldly/strangely structured, and I dig the ambition, though I will (slightly guiltily) admit I am glad the next episode will show the post-earthquake action in Miracle and not, say, devote to an hour to what Liv Tyler's character did between then and now. Kevin, Nora, Jill, and the new family are so intriguing.

This season is amazing.

Carrie Coon was AMAZING tonight in the opening sequence where she thought the departure had happened again. And Regina King was equally brilliant in her big scene.

This season is amazing, I agree. Every second is just beautiful, fascinating, frightening, seductively strange, etc., and every performer is clearly engaged and highly committed. If it has a "flaw," it is the fact there is almost too much high-quality content, too much fertile thematic ground to cover. The fact there are only six episodes left is sad.

Unless this is building to an intended conclusion, I strongly hope there is a third season. I know this is not a ratings or Emmy titan for HBO, though it should be.

This should be getting "Game of Thrones" numbers. It's a real shame.

I think HBO will renew it. The reception for this season has been a lot stronger than season 1.

I'm halfway through the latest episode and holy fuck it is AMAZING. This may be the best episode of the show ever. Christopher Eccleston is breaking my heart.

I swear if the Emmys ignore this show again I'll be furious. Janel Moloney and Christopher Eccleston were flawless last night. I loved how the ending brought everything together.

I just caught up on this show and OH MY FUCKING GOD AT THE ENDING OF LAST WEEK'S EPISODE. WHAT THE FUCK - I'm freaking out.
