Libs, how do you find the time to watch so many TV-shows (the question applies to everyone else as well, of course)? I mean I'd love to, but I struggle to find time to watch more than 2-3 at once, let alone, what seems like 10! Dayum.

Well, shows air year-round now so it's a little easier to watch.

I mean, in theory you could have watched the last season of Breaking Bad, S3 of Homeland, and S2 of Hannibal in the August 2013-May 2014 time frame. Until fairly recently in TV viewing that time period would've yielded probably one show.

Still, people watch too many shows nowadays ;) (I refer not to Libs here).

I'm just gonna do 2014.

1. Game Of Thrones Season 4
2. Rick & Morty Season 1 - The BEST animated show in many years. Seriously anyone who likes Futurama or Community needs to watch this asap. I can't hype it up enough.
3. How I Met Your Mother Season 9
4. Review Season 1
5. True Detective Season 1

Honorable mentions go to Archer, Community, Parks & Rec, Workaholics and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Off my list is New Girl which got really bad this season for some reason. Happy Endings suffered the same season 3 downfall. Curse? Also off is Walking Dead which is just boring now. House of Cards season 2 sucked, but I'll probably still watch season 3. Have not seen new Mad Men, Veep or Louie.

Post subject:  Re: Personal selections for the best in TV: 2013-2014

I haven't watched the Louie/Walking Dead/Downtown Abbey seasons yet and am only a few episodes into Mad Men/Homeland/Game of Thrones

Best show

American Horror Story: Coven
Breaking Bad
Community
Once Upon A Time
True Detective

Weird year because I feel all the non-True Detective shows, may have had their weakest season, or weakest Harmon year for Community. Nevertheless that's only by their standards, compared to everyone else they're still special seasons. OUAT is still my favorite and the most dynamic show on TV.

Best Actor

Bryan Cranston - Breaking Bad
Robert Carlyle - Once Upon A Time
Matthew McConaughey - True Detective

McConaughey won the Oscar and then destroyed that performance, with one of the best performances I've seen on TV or film.

Best Actress

Jessica Lange - American Horror Story: Coven
Anna Gunn - Breaking Bad
Jennifer Morrison - Once Upon A Time
Lana Parrilla - Once Upon A Time
Anna Paquin - True Blood

The other three aren't close to Lange and Parrilla, Lange is just too good to deny, though

Best Supporting Actor

Walton Goggins - Justified
Dean Norris - Breaking Bad
Colin O'Donoghue - Once Upon A Time
Aaron Paul - Breaking Bad

Goggins has been giving one of the best performances on TV for years

Best Supporting Actress

Kathy Bates - American Horror Story: Coven
Charlotte Rampling - Dexter
Rebecca Mader - Once Upon A Time
Michelle Monaghan - True Detective

Truly inhabited it and man, that's 4/4 for great acting winners, before mentioning some standout losers - there was a lot of fabulous acting this year in TV

Best individual episode:

Breaking Bad Season 5, episode 10 - Buried
Community Season 5, episode 4 - Cooperative Polygraphy
Community Season 5, episode 8 - App Development and Condiments
True Detective Season 1, episode 4 - Who Goes There
Once Upon A Time Season 3, episode 8 - Think Lovely Thoughts

I had my problems with BB's 5th season but Buried may have been its all time greatest episode. Community having two episodes here is a sign at its peak it was as good as any TV show this year, but was badly inconsistent.
