It should be a very good show considering its on HBO and has a great pedigree cast. Currently its metacritic rating is at 93 .

This show is supposedly fantastic, can't wait.

This show is incredibly well-acted and shot but man the first episode was boring as fuck. I'll stick with it and see if it gets better though.

The pilot is amazing. It lives up to the pedigree. So much atmosphere, and both lead actors shine. Great dialogue, too: a shade literary, yet also raunchy and authentic to the place. I cannot wait to see where it goes. It is obviously slowly burning and favors mood over propulsion, so it may not be to every television taste bud, but I am completely riveted.

I liked the pilot but I think people aren't use to the slow burn like they did for The Bridge and Hannibal. The cinematography is really well done.

I hated the pilot for "The Bridge." This was considerably better. I think "Hannibal" had a better first episode though.

I thought the first episode was sensational. McConaughey's comin' for that Emmy.

Emmy's in TD's future if quality is sustained....

The second episode was better than the first, IMO. Liked getting a bit more backstory on both of the characters.

McConaughey's scene describing the "upside" of his daughter's young death and the hubris he perceives in the act of parenting was a jaw-dropper.

Excellent episode #2. You can really feel the sense of time, place and character, especially in Cohle.

Also, I couldn't help but think of my former nemesis Joe when Alexandra Daddario was getting all naked in this episode.

The first two episodes have been very excellent. I hope HBO gives this a season 2.

I am sure they will, but the second season will feature an entirely new cast and storyline.

I hope the new cast in Season 2 (if it gets renewed, which is HIGHLY likely) is as good as Harrelson and McConaughey!

Another fantastic episode. Pretty sure I'm going to have nightmares from the image of the psycho in the gas mask stomping around at the end (and that freaky music).

It was pretty funny when Hart equated mowing his lawn to like cheating with his wife and what kind of dude really would mow someone else's lawn out of duty.

BTW,someone mentioned that lawn mower line was actually an easter egg and homage to Kingpin.

My wife and I went on a binge and watches all three episodes Sun-Mon nights. Very well done! Both actors are doing a terrific job.

I love the depiction of an insomniac. I wonder if he studied real insomniacs that are that way due to trauma, etc.

Tense!! Dang, that was good stuff. From the preview I thought they were going to find Reggie, but this was anything but a let down. Some interesting twists as well.

The last 10 minutes of "Who Goes There" is one of the best things I've ever seen on television. That continuous tracking shot was a work of art.

I just watched the latest one. Incredible sequence/shot at the end. Holy shit indeed. And a fantastic episode in general. Definitely the most directly intense hour of True Detective yet.

I was already a fan because of Sin Nombre and particularly Jane Eyre, but this series further cements Cary Joji Fukunaga as an amazing new director with enormous potential. I am now even more excited to see his next feature film.

That whole sequence was awesome. I was also picturing that whole sequence as a GTA checkpoints as Rust makes his way through that biker, passing through cop rankings at 4 stars, not shooting any of the gangs or civilians, and not harming his target. Perfect gold star as he drags the biker to Hart's car and the words mission complete flashes on the TV screen
