So what are the odds of this breaking its own record again? I feel like this is the season with the most hype yet.

So now there are no doubts what tv show is the biggest right now

I think the premiere will be up from Season 6 premiere, but below Season 6 finale.

It may be because I was in school when the last season began airing (thus was among the shows target audience much of the day), but I feel less hype than for season 6. I only saw one magazine cover at Barnes and Noble yesterday.

The premiere was good. The opening scene was epic.

Decent table-setting first episode. Incredible opening and concluding scenes. Shit-pot montage, grotesquely. Ed Sheeran, questionably. Jim Broadbent, welcome. No Melisandre, unfortunately.

The Ed Sheeran cameo and the Sam scenes were painful. I don't know why they thought casting Sheeran was a good idea.

I loved the opening scene. Arya keeps up her killing streak. The next scene was creepy seeing zombie giants, but I am still waiting for the Ice Spiders. And loved Dany's at Dragonstone great final scene.

Arya's opening scene is already iconic

Was there any other show in history that keeps growing their audience for 7 years straight?

I haven't watched for a few seasons but I enjoyed the premiere. Dany taking over Stannis old stomping grounds was pretty cool and I really liked the Hound and Arya scenes. Can't wait to see the multiple armies on each side throw down

Good start to the new season, not much happened but it's good set-up. The Sheeran scene was completely odd though.

GoT was always a show a bit on the slow side with interspersed episodes that moved the plot a lot. But I think a lot actually happened in this episode. They had to make an episode to sum up and remind people and yet still move it a bit forward. We got angles from all the conflicting parties and their plans on how they all think they should go forward. Dragonstone will obviously be an important place judged by the discovery Samwell made (the edit of his live was great and really funny to watch), Jorah is alive, etc. The only random scene is the Ed Sheeran one.

Yeah, indeed, the part about GoT being slow in general. I wish there's simply more happening but it has become a huge plot where it's just impossible to tie everything in one episode. Mostly everything is fascinatingly interesting to follow anyway, it just causes the end of an episode to feel frustrating when not much has moved forward. The Samwell montage for that matter was great and impactful indeed. I also enjoyed the Euron's dialogue with Cersei and Jaime.

So, how does Cersei know Daenerys made Tyrion her Hand? I don't see how that information could have made its way from her inner circle, to her armies, to perhaps merchants, and finally to King's Landing/Cersei.
