Ditto. The Godfather ending was superb.

I loved the last episode and they made an attempt to subvert the format by presenting 3 separate, unrelated storylines.

Phil has really been golden the last few episodes. Taking over the show.

One of the better episodes of the season last night.

Loved Claire awkwardly trying to ask Haley on a "date." As well as everything with Luke and Phil (by far my favorite pairing on the show) together.

And Elizabeth Banks is a delight whenever she shows up in anything.

Phil talking to the Mom at the bar was wonderful.

"YOU'RE NEVER OFF THE COURT!"

I love Luke.

Loved all the stuff with The Future Dunphys.

Also, the scene in the restaurant with Mitch, Cam, Gloria and Lilly was classic Modern Family.
Mitchell: "You're not gay, just confused!" (outraged lesbians walk by)
Gloria: "They're just going to grow up and become boring old white people." (old white men stroll by)
Mitchell: "Sorry, no, most of our friends are white!" (black couple looks over)
Cam: "I think we would all be better off if people just went back where they came from" (entire restaurant stares)

So we're getting to that time of year again... is Modern Family going unchallenged again at the Emmys for best comedy? I thought Girls would take it, but I've read the season was mediocre? Is there anything else that may take it? Realistically, of course.

New Girl should win the award. Not sure it can even muster a Series nomination, though.

Haley, about her fairy costume: "Can I borrow this?"

"Why?"

"I'd rather not say."

Cam's so annoying, ugh. I thought the sister sideplot was cute though.

The season finale was pretty great. I do think this was the best season since the first.

This was a great season. Great finale to cap it off. Cam starting trouble in the community was fantastic.

The finale was really sweet and hilarious. This season was great, I definitely agree that it was the best since season 1.

Really solid episodes tonight. I loved Phil and Gloria mugging in the background as extras!

The scenes with them mugging as extras were HILARIOUS. I had to rewind to watch them again because it made me laugh so hard :P

This show gets a lot of shit online now because it's won the Emmy four times, and I don't necessarily think that's fair - it's had off seasons (season 3) but it's still consistently enjoyable and funny. I was really charmed by the premiere last night.

I tried watching this show recently because I had been a fan of one of Levitan's other shows, "Just Shoot Me". Unfortunately, I only found it mildly amusing at times. The humor didn't work for me. I found Sofia Vergara's character annoying. The rest of the cast was okay. I did like how the cast of characters would talk to the screen at times. The MJF show did the same thing.

Unfortunately, I have tried several different comedy series lately (The Mindy Project, New Girl, 30 Rock, Big Bang Theory, The Goldbergs, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, etc.) and haven't found any that I thought was funny. The one that I liked best was The Crazy Ones due to being a fan of the writer (David E. Kelley) and liking his style of character interaction.

I even tried watching an old comedy show that I hadn't watched before, Barney Miller, and didn't like that one either. Reinhold Weege, the creator of one of my favorite comedy shows, Night Court, had been a writer for Barney Miller. So, I had been hoping that I would like it.

Just found out a few minutes ago, that Reinhold Weege died last December. :( I hadn't even heard about it before and he wasn't mentioned in the Emmy tribute reel. :(

Editing to add:

I went to tv.com yesterday and searched for Barney Miller episodes written by Reinhold Weege then went to Hulu to watch some of them. I did like the season 4 opening two-part series premiere. The humor and the depth of emotion from the first episode of that two-part premiere reminded me of his Night Court work.

The plot of last night's episode was weirdly almost identical to the episode of Friends with Phoebe's birthday dinner in structure. Still good though.

Mitch and Cam's relationship has become a bit cringeworthy, though. Must they bicker or passive aggressively snipe at each other every episode? I really love the actors, but even they can't keep selling the fact that these two would never still be together in real life. As an aside, though, the young actress who plays Lily has gotten really sharp with the line deliveries this season!

I used to hate new Lily and now I actually like her a lot!

Cam and Mitch are my least favorite characters.

I guess Libs doesn't know how relationships work.

Dude, what the hell is your problem? That's a fucked up thing to say to someone who, more often than not, goes out of their way to be nice to you.

If you're going to argue Mitch and Cam have a healthy relationship, I can't even engage. They don't even seem like they like each other! I know this is just a sitcom, but Phil and Claire's relationship makes much more sense. Even Jay and Gloria's, too.

I wasn't saying it to be mean. I was saying it in that... couples bicker. Every relationship is different. To say that they wouldn't be together is a silly thing to say.
