Post subject:  "Glee" Thread
Eventually the season one thread as well. Pilot/preview is on 5/19 after American Idol. Hopefully this "experiment" works and here's hoping, ya know, that the show delivers.

This thread is dedicated to Libs and Corpse.

I've give the pilot a shot. I like the rendition of Don't Stop Believing and Jane Lynch is just a piss.

I saw an ad on TV last night (had no idea what it was before then) and I'm looking forward to checking it out, much to my surprise. I'm especially excited to see how it performs after IDOL. Seems like a great match, unlike most of the shows IDOL has lead into. But there really hasn't been anything else that would be THIS fitting. It should see a very large sampling for this sneak episode, like 18-20 Million.

When will it be back then after this episode?

Mike, it should be back around September after this one-time airing, apparently having the Fall edition of So You Think You Can Dance as the lead-in (again, another perfect pairing).

That's a damn long time to wait :P. But this airing should create a lot of buzz. I wonder if they'll air the episode again during the summer? And of course it will likely be heavily downloaded. It's all about the lead-in. I couldn't see this being a big hit if it weren't for this debut after AI. That was a very smart move.

What does SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE average in the ratings?

Its done like 8-10M viewers but thats with summer. In fall it could probably do like 12M+.

Yeah, the first season of SYTYCD ran into October and those got 6-7 million, but that was when SYTYCD was still fairly weak, ratings and competition-wise. However, it has much tougher competition this year (it will be its first double season AND there are a bunch of dancing shows in the fall). If it can keep 8 million and a 3 in the demo, it should be fine.

Another comparison is America's Got Talent which does gangbusters in the summer but when it took a break for the Olympics last year, the fall episodes were pretty weak in the ratings.

I liked it. A nice first episode, had some cliches but also some new interesting takes on the whole high school experience. The HSM thing has been done before yes, obviously, but I like the redone versions of modern songs plus anything that has Don't Stop Believing grabs me instantly.

I can see this being the kind of show I fall in love with. It wasn't a perfect pilot but that's rare. Even though Don't Stop Believin' has been featured on all the ads ad nauseum since Idol basically started, it was still a pretty magical moment.

I enjoyed it. Major props for featuring two Journey songs (including Don't Stop Believing, which is my favorite song :p) and an REO Speedwagon song. I'm looking forward to seeing more in the fall. The upcoming episodes look like they'll be getting even better.

I loved the performance of Don't Stop Believing in the end. It was really exciting.

As a bonus, the teacher guy is really sexy. :wub2:

The version of "Don't Stop Believin" by the cast is already #2 on iTunes. I think this may have done really well in the ratings.
