Six episodes in, and I think Skyler is just taking it all too easily. She was DEAD against Walt and his decision to make meth, but now she seems all for it. I don't sense any underlying hatred for it at all. It's not as if she is putting up with it through gritted teeth just so she can benefit from some other aspect (the car wash). It's odd.

Got one episode remaining of season 4 and it's pretty great stuff. Feels more open that anything can happen. The writers have done an amazing job. They've broke free from the chains of "don't let Skyler know". Now she knows, and there's money to spend, it makes the whole show much more unpredictable and fun. It's also more grandiose. Jesse is really growing leaps and bounds as a character. Walt is feeling like arguably the less interesting in a series that is pretty much solely about him. Skyler is doing her own thing. Gus and Mike have their own agendas (I LOVE Gus's taunting of the old guy in the wheelchair). And Hank's story is also progressing nicely with how he's looking into Gus and Los Pollos Hermanas/industrial laundry. The show's best thing is that they dropped any focus on Walt Jr. and Marie. Saul isn't as good as he was, but he is still thereabouts with a few lines that make it all the more fun. I'm also loving to see Bill Burr in a few episodes!!! Very surprised to see him but very glad. He does a fantastic job as Saul's odd-job man.

Don't do that!!! Don't build it up! It will always disappoint. :P

You're right on Bill Burr - he kills it in his small role in the series.

The finale to season 4 is awesome. Gus, poor Gus. Great character, and what a death! The build up was also nice.

So I started season 5 last night right after finishing season 4. First episode and already Walt has purchased an M60. Yeah, this is going to be a good season. :D

Season 5 is absolutely fucking insane. Prepare yourself ;)

Season 1-3 were good. Very good, in fact. But they were small scale. It was all about the cook, the batch, keeping secrets from the wife etc. From season 4 (and what I guess from season 5) it's much grander. Explosions, killings, more is at stake and on the line. I hope it doesn't get silly, but I also am just having too much of a good time watching it all evolve. So much fun. Might be the most fun serious television drama.

Loving season five. Walt is a bad ass. I love it how he's basically acting like Tony Montana now, and Skyler just came right out and said that she cannot wait until he dies. Mike being tailed and wanting out. The kid getting shot! Fuck. Hank will get close to Walt, I'm guessing. I'm six episodes in. I binged three and wanted to continue but it was 1am.

It's great to start connecting the dots from now to Walt buying an M60. I guess he goes on the run or something. But I love his "I'm in the EMPIRE BUILDING BUSINESS". He doesn't mince his words. You know shit's going to go down after someone says that.

Oooooooooooooooh, Hank found out about Walt being Heisenberg! The episode ended with "If I am who you think I am, you should ... *tone change* ... tread lightly". Fuck yes. This show is so much fun!

I forgot to mention that I loved the scene a couple of episodes ago where Skyler flips out and says "I don't want to hear your bullshit rationales". I thought that was great, because it was (or should have been) exactly what the viewer is thinking when Walt goes on one of his justification monologues. At least, I was thinking that.

The fifth season must have had a greater budget. In terms of shot compositions, sequences, even score, it is much more refined. Or perhaps just because the more loose story allows for more in the way of creative elements.

Such a great scene. Any other show would have played out that cat and mouse game of "he knows, but Walt doesn't" for a whole season. This show? 1 episode.

Another fantastic episode with the fake confession that will also impeach Hank. AWESOME STUFF

Jesse Pinkman is such an uninteresting character for me. I don't care about his problems. Much of the time he does nothing besides getting drunk and doing drugs. I much prefer Walt's story line. Much more interesting. And I don't believe Walt's story is only interesting because of Jesse. Jesse's character is redundant. It wouldn't matter if he died.

Jesse is such a shit character. Annoying as fuck. Bit annoyed at the show for not killing him off when they had just wasted Hank and Gomez. I get that it makes sense to keep him for Todd's operation, but it just felt convenient that Walt needed him killed and he had agreed to have him killed by the uncle, then Todd chimes in and he's saved. He needs to die to make the series bad ass. Though I already appreciate that other big characters have died.

Finished the last two episodes. Would have loved to see it continue with more seasons (it's a lot of fun) but also applaud it for knowing when to stop. I'd watch Better Call Saul if I get the chance.

It is strange. I couldn't imagine liking it that much but it really is awesome. Even after all the "it's the best show ever" comments, it still managed to be good. Just to clarify, it is one of the best shows ever. It is just too much fun and it works at a great pace.

I wonder if this Gilligan fella will do more stuff.

Have you ever watched The Walking Dead, Algren?

Post subject:  Re: Breaking Bad

Never. I hear it's good, but it looks really bad. I've been burned with some TV recommendations (Penny Dreadful, Game of Thrones, Arrested Development), so I don't take them all up. Not to mention that The Walking Dead has seven seasons with no end in sight.

Yeah, I'm not going to bother.

The only television series' that I might try are Better Call Saul (because of its connection to Breaking Bad), The Following (because of Kevin Bacon and it's relatively short), Fargo (because of the film and apparently it's great), and The Affair (looks mature and relatively short). The last three solely because they are on this Chinese app for free download.

Other than those (and my continuing interest in Homeland, True Detective, and The Knick), I don't care much for US television dramas. Shows like Arrow, Dexter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Walking Dead, Person of Interest, Gotham, Teen Wolf etc. represent the worst, cheapest, and tackiest shit in television.

Definitely go for "Fargo." It's amazing and the tone is somewhat similar to "Breaking Bad."

"The Following" is one of the most hilariously awful television shows in years.

"The Affair" is decent though the most recent season was a little weak. Amazing performances though.
