Anyone watching? I didn't realize there wasn't a thread. I thought the premiere was pretty good. Business as usual. Nothing major, nothing that sucked. Denis Leary is still fucking phenomenal. I hope he gets the Emmy this year. There are some incredible actors on television this year (Michael C. Hall, James Gandolfini, Kiefer Sutherland, Hugh Laurie), but he tops them all for me at this point, at least for last season. Kiefer would top the list under normal circumstances of a better season. |

I liked the sequence where they were saving the stupid cats and the floor collapsed. Scary and funny at the same time. It was a solid premiere. Hopefully Maggie and Sean's storyline won't get stuck with their marriage squabbles. I could only take so much of Crazy Tatum O'Neal. |

I heard rumors about a big death coming, so the surprise was gone for me. Still, though, I always liked the Chief. It sucks that he's gone. The first three episodes have gone by, and I don't feel like anything big has happened (aside from the death), but just the interaction between characters is superb. Everyone is at their best this year. |

damn. I don't know if it's worth catching up for this season now or just waiting for the DVD. I bought and finished season 3 on dvd in time for season 4 but got so busy, I ended up never starting. I hope it's been just as good as the past seasons. This show has definitely made its way into my all time top 10 |

So, I finally bought the 4th season on DVD. Watched like 9 episodes or so in the past 16 hours, haha. This season has been quite disappointing so far. I feel like almost nothing has happened. It took them like 4 freakin episodes to finally deal with the baby and then what do they do? Back to crazy Janet and blackmailing shit. They have written her character their (her and Tommys) relationship way into the ground. There have been a few things that would have provided awesome writing and more character and story growth (one being the chief's suicide) but they touch on it for 5 minutes in one episode then it's completely forgotten, which makes anything that happens on this, no matter how big or shocking, not a big deal anymore. I think Probie's story arc has been the best so far. And he's a damn good actor in this role. Everyone else is more or less the same. |

I agree, I thought 4 was kind of uneventful honestly. Which is really too bad because i like the show a lot and really like the characters, but there's just not much going on with the writing for any of them. |

Finished the season. 13 episode sin less than 30 hours  Quite disappointed. What an uneventful, drawn-out, repetitious, and recycled season. And by the last episode, everything was predictable. I don't know. This is one of my FAVORITE shows. I hope they start fresh with season 5, especially considering that one's going to be 22 episodes. |
