I think last night's episode might have been the best of the season yet, although that's not to say it didn't add to the mess that's becoming Season 3.
After getting over the "Cheap shot" value of wasting an episode on Christian s the suspect, you actually see it wasn't wasted at all. The episode in and of itself was pretty outstanding. Although I doubt we'll get much more insight into the being that is Christian (this season at least) it really established alot in unravelling his character, sopmething that is quite overdue.
Playing one of the most flawed and complex characters on Television right now, Julian McMahon does an OUTSTANDING job. He is one of today's most underrated actors on TV. His breakdown in a Season 1 episode (With the priest raping the boy, in which he finally reveals he was raped as a child/teen) was one of the most heart-wrenching and emotional scenes I have witnessed on TV. There is something so disturbing yet touching in seeing a man like Christian cry and he executes that with talented ease.
Anyway... back to the episode and Season 3....
This episode did set up alot of work for the rest of the season as the previews suggest. The rift it created between the two leads will be another brick in their long, arduous relationship. IT may be redundant from the big break we experienced in Season 2 but we'll have to wait and see how it's going to play out.
I do have one question though.... I did not get how Christian got out of jail; he said something about making a call and such, but I just completely did not get how he knew the Carver was going to strike again and exactly what he said to Sean in his explanation.
As far as the Carver's involvement in the show nd to these characters, it's getting pretty personal. Why would he/she attack the detective? He/She could have attacked anyone to show that it's not Christian that's the carever and that it's him/her. Julia is the most emotionally attached to Christian ou of all the suspects and she could have done it because she wanted to help Christian sort of get back at the detective..... just a thin justification, but hey, anything at this point is useful.

Last night's episode wasn't that great in my opinion. This season is definitely the weakest yet at this point. I hope it gets better. The next episode seems really good though, however they usually do and end up not being as good as they looked. I didn't even think the episode before this one was that great, but compared to this one it was much better.

This episode wasn't that great because nothing really interesting happened. It just layed ALOT of groundwork for new storylines and directions.
I think saying this season is the weakest yet is quite an understatement. I've actually made peace with Nip/Tuck never rising to Season 1/2 standards again. I don't know why it took me so fast to accept it but I think I saw it coming from before. Plus, the writer/creator may leave after this season, so wo knows what will happen.
I've been thinking about the carver a bit more lately. I remember someone saying they will be really turned off and maybe not watch the show if Julia is the carver.
I'm starting to feel exactly the OPPOSITE. With the divorce seeming to be finalized, I know for sure this show isn't afraid to take steps it might regret later and deals with consequences of what has happened rather than trying to cover up or tie in loose ends.
That being said... the writer/creator has stressed so many times that the point of the show, the theme is the love story between the two heterosexual male leads. I think having Juli be the carver would explore ALOT more in terms of this love triangle and maybe offer the most new devlopment for the relationship between the two men than any other suspect carver might.
Ad to further reason it out.... they will have, at season's end, exhasted almost 2 out of 3 seasons of he series with the carver (given, not in every episode). If it's something this big that Murphy wants to explore for another whole season (Season 3) then isn't it reasonable to assume it has more to do with overall plot of the series rather than a seasonal arc?

*sigh*
Last night's episode was one of the weaker episodes of the season. (along with the Kiki episode...) It'll be very interesting to see the route the show will take. I honestly hope the show'll end after its 4th season if it does continue after this season.

Wow this show is getting tiresome and a bit boring.
You can still distinctly tell the underlying foundations of the writer's idea of the show are still developong and that the Christian-Sean-Julia triangle. And had the season been as sharp as ever I'd say it was as good as it has ever been.
But the delivery, the edge, the style, the pizzaz that used to be Nip/Tuck is totally gone and we are left with bare bones covered in pretty to lok at but forseably decaying layers.
I also don't know what this guy's obsession is with pushing the sexual envelope. I mean it was cool at first and I think it's really great how gay writers seem to explore flawed characters and imperfect relationships with such ease but I'm getting sick of all these sexed up episode stories.
I knwo that just about all the ideas for surgeries are from real-life. However bizarre they may seem they are not out of this world. But why does it always have to be about sex and sexual identity. I never thought I'd find myself complaining about this feature of the show. But the semen face cream just pushed the limit. There is rarely an episode without something sexually provocative. And it's not that it doesn't make the show more interesting but that he just does it because he can.
Before, it used to add something to the show and now it's just "omg... okay"
It's getting a bit old.... get down to the basics that made the first season work.
And what the FUCK happened to that detective??????
Didn't she show up before Troy victimized by the carver in the last scene of the episode 2 weeks ago??? Did they operate on her... where is the investigation going... why didnt they follow up on that????

Last night's episode was another mediocre one. The only stuff I really liked was with the spa. I thought the stuff with the semen face mask was interesting, funny, and inventive. This season is disappointing though .

How do you know the writers are gay? I doubt they are, at least not all of them.
I found the episode to be decent. I like to see Christian and Kimber getting married.

There was a great article in Time magazine a few months back about gay TV writers and it focused on 3: MArc Cherry for Housewives, Ryan Murphy for Nip/Tuck, and I *think* the writer for Six Feet Under.
The article was about how extraordinarily well these gay writers can concoct superb insights into characters, especially women.
When they were finishing filming Season 2 of Nip/Tuck, the studio or company was delaying renewing Murphy's contract for writing the show. He thought they might not and that's why he ended it with the cliff-hamger of Christian being slashed. Nobody knew if he would actually get killed off because the writer didn't know if he was coming back or not. They sure eough renewed his contract for another year and he decided to stay to finish up the story he started (with the Carver). He has always stated that the point of the show is the love relationship between two heterosexual men and it's obvious that is still the core framework being explored and the one tie this season has to the others, because it is seriously veering way off course.

Last night's episode was decent. It was nice to see the adorable Steve Sandvoss (Latter Days) guest star. I didn't know he was going to be on it but when I saw his name during the credits in the beginning I was happy.
I think they should have done the surgery pro-bono. I know Christian gave them a discount, but they should have just done it free. Had Sean been there they might have.

2nd week I've missed. I thought of not watching it anymore today as I am with Alias and just waiting for DVD's or repeats when I don't have alot of work, school, and stress. But then again, I want to know who the carver is and more than (cuz I'll know anyway, it will slip out even if I try to ignore it) I want to build up to it.
Anyone know when the season ends?

The season ends in May. I guess it has a schedule more like other shows now that it started in September instead of the summer.

there is no possible way it ends in May. None.
Is there a source to that statement?
I'm not attacking you, there is just no way it can go on for that long unless they're totally changing the format. Cable shows usually run for 13-16 episodes only.

I believe it takes a break for a month or so in December and comes back in January, along with the season premiere of "The Shield."

Brittany Snow, of NBC's canceled 'American Dreams' will be appearing as a recurring character. More specifically, as a love interest of sorts for Matt.

Meh... More showtime for Matt.
I really want Ava to come back, though.
Still haven't watched this week's episode... I'll get to it on the weekend.

I've missed the last 3 episodes and am thinking of not watching the rest of the season because of stress and compression for time from work and school.
Spoilers....
If what I read was indeed spoilers that Kimber is killed by the Carver (I don't know, that's what I'm assuming, so don't confirm this or anything!!!) then I ahve no doubt the carver is either Liz or Julia, leaning more towards Julia. If it's Quentin, then I would be THOROUGHLY done with the show. If it's Jude, then ehh I saw it coming, but not impressive at all!
