Post Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021 (Jan. 25-31)
There's many new Shueisha's releases this week so I hope AoT will still be on next top 50. SxF will be out for sure.
I'm curious of how good Kemono Jihen vol.13 starting because the anime seems to boost its sales since many weeks right now. Offcourse I'd like to see if One Piece'll do better than its previous volumes or how's doing Death Note bonus book... Yesterday the new KnY fan-book was first and the first one (july 2019) was on 5th. There's many KnY special books back to the top-sellers (reprint and releases).
So JjK now between rank 10-30 and surely do that for few days.

It helps to get how far can do JjK... Well now it has to continue to run after its anime and for a while to go around Kimetsu's level. Wait and see.

One Piece's 98th volume seems to have done better than the 97th, which itself did better than the 96th.

Impressive results for the Demon Slayer fanbooks (the number combines the 2019 fanbook with the new one that released this week). Shoseki had the new fanbook above the One Piece volume, but looking at these numbers, I don't think it happened after all.

Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer are starting to have some stock issues. Slow week also for The Promised Neverland, Haikyu!!, Chainsaw Man and Attack on Titan to a lesser extent.

This is by far World Trigger's best result ever, and the first time it sells over 300k units in a single week.

Same thing for Kemono Jihen which just did its best week ever. Its new volume is going to break any previous records for this series.

Post Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021 (Jan. 25-31)
I saw the Shoseki ranking a couple days ago and was both surprised and not surprised that the second Demon Slayer fanbook was beating One Piece. Surprised because it suggested a first week well above 1 million, and I don't think a new One Piece volume has ever not debuted at #1 in Oricon's history. But I wouldn't have been surprised either due to how Demon Slayer has changed the industry.

Glad to see that it appears that One Piece beat it though.

If One Piece #98 came in above #97, which in turn came in above #96, it could be a result of the Wano Arc getting closer to its conclusion. One Piece will be interesting to watch when #100 is released either this summer or fall, both for the significance of releasing your 100th volume, but also since it'll be around the time of this arc ending (I presume) and kicking off wherever the story goes next. And the next arc, unless there's a smaller one similar in length to Zou, could very well be the last leading up to the series finale. I don't think Oda was being misleading or anything when he said last summer that the story would likely end in 4-5 years.

And I'd expect Haikyu!! to begin its gradual decline down the charts. Wouldn't be too surprised if this is its last week making the top 10. I'd expect the same for The Promised Neverland, most likely, in the coming weeks/months.

Me and my degenerated mind instantly thought of incest wtf??? lmao

But yeah, their sibling relationship is one of the most realistic and adorable in anime and manga history. I can't say that it's the best, but it's up there.

Post Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021 (Feb. 01-07)
Thanks, Rouk'!

I was going to have a separate thread for the Biggest First Week Sales Chart, but since it really wouldn't be updated too often (unless I expand it below 750,000 copies), I'll post it in here when a new volume makes the list. I've already considered going back and adding any volume that sold over 500,000 in its first week. That'd add a lot more to the current list, but 500,000 is still a significant accomplishment and doesn't happen too many times a year.

NOTE: With this list, I did include the special edition sales for any volume that had them. I believe that includes the last 4 Demon Slayer volumes, and a few of the Attack on Titan volumes. I don't believe other series on the list had special editions released.

But let me know if that's fair. I can go back and exclude them if needed. I can see where some fans would buy the special edition over the standard edition, thus making including them fair/equal, but I can also see where the diehard fans could buy both copies and thus inflate the sales, which could be a sales advantage over those without special editions.

Every single Attack on Titan volume starting from volume 7 had a limited edition.
You also missed Nana volume 19 which did 787,219 in its first week in May 2008. You also missed Nodame Cantabile volume 22 which had a limited edition that pushed its week 1 sales past 750k in August 2009. Fullmetal Alchemist 21 (released in december 2008) should also be here.

Another question that must be asked is that of "Week 0". When volumes release on Mondays, they sometimes have part of their sales that happen in the previous week (because of retailers breaking the street date). This can significantly change the data in this list. I feel like these sales should be included because these sales would have happened during the first proper week if the retailers hadn't done that. Using these would, for example, add Naruto 43 to the list.

On the other hand, you put Fullmetal Alchemist 22 there, and I'm not sure why considering I've got its first week at 536k.

Then I likely added the special edition sales for all Attack on Titan volumes on the list since I made this chart on a week by week basis and shouldn't have missed them.

I will add Nana #19, Nodame Cantabile #22, and Fullmetal Alchemist #21. Regarding Fullmetal Alchemist #22... Perhaps I made a mistake and had 21's sales listed for it instead? I'll go back and check it tomorrow.

As for the week 0 sales, I agree with including them. The vast majority of the sales there would of course have been sold on the proper day of release anyway, so I see no issues with including them. That said... Going back and checking ALL of these again and update any volumes that this happened to will be pretty time consuming. I don't mind doing it, just let me know soon-iish if you have any of these figures readily available before I begin sometime over the weekend.

I'll go ahead and include any volumes that sold over 500,000 in the process. Like I said, if it's just the 750,000+ mark, then it's really just going to be the six series' on the list currently plus one entry for Nana and Nodame Cantabile, respectively. And the only series not already included in the next year or two that looks like it may eventually have a volume with a 750,000+ week is possibly Jujutsu Kaisen. Spy x Family may have potential in the future, but I wouldn't expect such an increase until it receives an anime adaptation.

Also, I'm kind of surprised The Seven Deadly Sins never had a volume reach 750,000 first week given the big year it had following its anime premiere. The boost was pretty short lived, but the boost it received in 2015 (I think) seemed significant enough that at least one or two of its volumes released during this time should have hit the mark. I guess the big year it had was largely just backlog sales.

This is excellent. Thanks for sharing. Are the sales from 51 down behind a pay subscription or service?

I don't have anything ready, so if you can do it, that would be great.

I think you forgot the limited editions for Attack on Titan volume 11, 13, 14 and 15.
Nodame Cantabile volumes often have special editions that included a DVD. Kimi ni Todoke vol. 11 also had a DVD bundle that pushed it self just above 500k. I think some Gin no Saji volumes had limited editions.
And I know that Haikyu had a limited edition for volume 21 and 15 because when I did the list of top manga ranked by their best first weeks, I missed them.
As far as I know, the other manga that are going to appear a lot never had any limited editions (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, FMA, HxH, Assassination Classroom)

And yeah, Seven Deadly Sins never had any huge first week. The highest one is volume 13's, and even with its limited edition, it barely missed the 500k mark.

Since I'm going to include anything over 500,000, I'll double check all the volumes already on the list to see if their limited editions were included or not.

I'll have the updated and expanded list up either tomorrow or on Monday.

Post Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021 (Feb. 01-07)
That's really nice we can see a top 100 as we mentionned few days ago. The releases on march 4th will be very strong... Chainsaw Man vol. 1 will be over 700k and vol. 10 around 500k so vol. 11 should be really good. Same to the 2nd vol of Kaiju #8... vol. 1 will be at 500k ~. Useless to talk about JjK...^^ Can we expect more 700-800k for 1st week ? A 4 days only.

Bruh, KnY reached 150 million copies
This is insane and it might overtake Black Jack as the highest sales yet low volume totals.

Black Jack numbers don't have any source. It's most likely not at 176m units in print. The source in wikipedia for that is the book "Manga and Anime go to Hollywood" (the number appears in Page 8 and Page 40, the source is Page 380 and 381). But that same book uses the exact same "Best-selling manga" wiki page as a source. Back then (october 16, 2014), the source for the 176m number on the wiki page was an ANN article whose source was this ranking that currently displays Black Jack as having 45.64m units in print, but did show the 176m number in 2014.

Considering this website said it was at 40m in 2006, I'm inclined to believe the lower number

45.64m would put it at under 2m per volume, which is great, for sure, but it's nowhere near Demon Slayer

Since no one is editing Black Jack's numbers, then it was probably true tbh
But it might also be false so who knows. We might not reach the truth.

According to shoseki weekly ranking KnY fanbook's 1st again so will it really be or One Piece's still first this week ? ^^
KnY volumes still fall and down in the ranking and should be around 20k per volume then ?
It seems Kaiju No. 8 holds its well done of 20-25k/week and SxF #6 plus AoT #33 are now out of top 50 so hope for a top 100 again. Well that's not a Oricon top...^^
