The comparisons have been done well before our posts so our responses were baed on that. Everyone knew that KnY stopped last year but still many (including yourself) claimed that it will win the year which didn't look possible at the pace of JjK sales well before the year.

Anyways just because we do comparisons does not mean we are being salty but I guess you are wounded because you are big KnY fan. As for the industry growing I told that multiple times before in response to comparisons so I agree its really good for the industry overall. I wonder if there will be two consecutive years as huge as these two in terms of copies sold. I'm sure revenue will eventually catch up.

Uhmm, are you mistaking me for someone else? xD
The initial part of my post wasn't meant for you, but rather for the whole debacle of KnY vs JJK fandoms up there. And it was mostly meant for the people complaining about JJK beating KnY for the year, if anything.

Posts like these only spark up heated discussions which didn't fail to arrive.

I don't remember taking part in this conversation or claiming anything, in fact I believe this is my first post on the discussion. I do prefer KnY to JJK myself (though I do enjoy JJK as a series), but I don't see anything negative about JJK winning the year

Maybe I should add an avatar or something, feels like we're blending in together with so many people having none.

It's a case of mistaken identity but the response to your post is still valid. There were claims that KnY will win the year which because of its initial lead but JjK was catching up to it since the start of the year.

I see, but I still don't see why that applies to me. Granted I didn't read all the pages, but my comment was in relation to the comments "victimizing" KnY and calling the situation unfair, as if JJK hadn't fully earned its achievement. Which it totally has, and saying otherwise is just trying to belittle the series and its explosive breakthrough.

I wasn't talking about comparisons between the two series or anything. Quoting the right comment would've made it clearer, but it was a bit hard to quote multiple comments on mobile. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

As for the comparison itself, I would say JJK's victory became really clear in the first weeks of february. Once KnY slowed down and JJK remained strong, it was pretty obvious it was going to gradually gain ground, and the added volume releases would seal the deal in its favour. I was expecting JJK to hit 40M+ back then. With JJK showing less legs than I initially anticipated I am now expecting a less strong performance for the year, but it should still result in a clear #1 for the year.

Unless you get the context you cannot understand that the intention here wasn't to victimize or belittle KnY's accomplishments rather it was pure comparison (which has been going on for last few pages) and ofcourse to champion the success of JjK which cannot be said enough. Yes it caught what KnY started but its never easy to do so.

Uhm, no, I was talking about the comments belittling JJK, not KnY.

Very strong for Kingdom. Jjk is slowing down a little now.

Yup, just like I thought
JJK would slow down right now until a new volume will release.
Too bad though since everyone hyped jjk up to go 40 million, but yeah, <30 million is probably it's final goal this year.

JJK >30M is pretty much a lock already.
Kingdom had a lower week than usual given the volume had 7 days.

Tokyo revengers is really strong. Strong candidate for #3 for 2021.

Yeah I do not see how JjK misses 30m at this point. Its still selling almost 500K in a week and few volumes should be released in the year where it probably will sell close to 1m a week. 40m is not going to happen but I guess a mark close to 35m is the target.

I'm just being pessimistic since I don't want my hopes to be broken. JJK isn't as monstrous as everyone hyped it to be, so I'm lowballing it so I can be surprise.
also, I meant to say <=30mil, not just <30mil

Post Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021 (Apr. 19-25)
Volume 16 will release in june and volume 17 is guaranteed to release within the oricon year as well, that alone should give it something between 3.5 to 4M more for the year. A 3rd volume is also possible, although I assume the series will move to a 3-months release schedule now with all the recent breaks the author is taking.

Just accounting for those 2 releases means backlog only needs to sell a little over 4M in the remaining 30 weeks, which is guaranteed to happen unless it completely collapses which is not gonna happen. I would say 33-34M final target for the year unless it does put out a 3rd volume which would push the target to 35-36M.

KnY should target about 30M for a strong #2 place finish.

Tokyo revengers is having a strong boost as well as a few big tv shows recommending it, and has a Live Action coming out in the summer with some quite popular actors. In addition to this it has a very big amount of volumes as the adaptation came quite late (22 volumes already out). I think #3 is extremely likely, I don't see anything could take it away from it as of now.

AoT and OP should fight for #4. AoT's ending didn't do much but it could see a bit of a resurgence once final volume drops, not expecting much though, but full color edition will push its numbers a bit too. I think OP is the frontrunner for #4 as of now.

Rest of the list should be Kingdom, MHA, CSM. Spy x Family should easily make it unless it does not release a 3rd volume for the year, which seems unlikely but not impossible since release has been slow, even then it should still make it though. Kaiju could surprise for #10 with the monstrous growth rate it's having, otherwise TPN should take it. World Trigger also looks possible to me if a 2nd volume does release, not familiar with how close it is but I'm aware the author has health issues.

You're being a bit too optimistic there.
But hey, if that will make you happy then sure. You do you.
Just like I said earlier, I don't want to hope anything bigger than 30 million for JJK because it will break my heart if it didn't reached that.

Post Re: Weekly Manga Sales 2021 (Apr. 19-25)
There is no optimism at play here.
Accounting for the new releases giving an additional 3.5-4M, which should basically be a given, selling 4M more will only require the current JJK volumes to average a little over 135k per week combined. That's easily doable even as it continues decreasing, last few weeks are still around 500k. There is basically no way it misses that, and honestly it would be hard to miss my prediction as well. It has more chances to end up above it than below it.

30M for KnY is more missable, I am predicting that on the assumption that the during the final 5-6 weeks backlog will get a small bump through season 2 (I don't expect much, but it doesn't need much either). Which might not happen, so 29M-30M is the range. Lowballing would be high 28M at worst.

And like I said earlier, I won't hope anything for JJK. I just want to be surprise, that's why I'm setting my bar so low for it. What's hard for there to understand? lmao

The era of Kimetsu officially ends  .

After May, the series may not appear in the Oricon's Weekly Top 10.

Yes there's no chances for JjK to miss 30M of copies sold this year ! About KnY I guess it'll hit 30M too. We don't know how season 2 will boost sales but it needs like 200k per volumes so I guess it locked if the anime comes not too late.

KnY era was great, impressive and long and did much more than anyone expected ! I was glad to follow such an interesting time like this ! Manga charts still sooo interesting actually and 2021 will be a great year in term of sales... I'm curious to see how far it'll goes.

JJK second at 500k again

Tokyo Revengers though, it's becoming Kodansha's next best seller manga.
Also, KnY at 3rd place.
