Post subject:  Derby - What do you dislike?

With any game, sometimes the developers get too close and end up missing obvious pain points. It's also possible that things which bother the every day player were never even considered. Even still, things may have been considered but pushed below other priorities and forgotten. We need your help to continually remind us about what you dislike so we can work to improve it!

With that I ask: What about the current derby do you dislike? If another member mentions something and you agree, please let us know!

Don't know if this serves as a suggestion thread, since what I have isn't really a dislike: Under the Weekly Winners section in the Quarterly Result page, could we link the date to the result page for that week and the winning player to his predictions for that week?

Suggestions are things that are missing, things that are missing is a dislike in my book. A good suggestion, my only question would be: Should it link to their prediction, or that week's results? Maybe we make the date link to the week's results, and their name to their specific prediction?

Yeah, that's what I would suggest as well.

I dislike that in week 1 I was top 5 & now after week 2 I'm top 30.

Other than that it's all good

Xiayun, you're update has been completed. Really appreciate the feedback!

Minor flaw: in the results candle chart, the hover box text range for the middle 50% is backwards (also the colon is in a bit of an awkward spot).

My own issue: The reminder email is a bit confusing, while it's technically right that the deadline is tomorrow, it needs to be clearer and better worded.

Thanks for noting, I wouldn't have seen that.

I think there should be an overview page for every player. Where you can easily find previous predictions, rankings etc. Navigation through previous weeks is a complete mess. I also don't get that graph that looks like a music studio mixer. What the hell does it show and what do the numbers mean?

be.redy,

If you visit the How to Play page, it explains the graph. A few questions:

What makes navigation between weeks a complete mess? (I did find one bug where the Prev / Next buttons don't always point to the correct week which will be fixed)
Can you better define what you would like to see on the player page?

We do plan to add a player page, and have ideas for what should appear there, but nothing is finalized. We haven't created the page simply because at launch there wasn't sufficient data. It's something I'd expect to arrive in the coming two months, including the ability to graph a users performance against other players.

There should be a list of weeks so you can easily pick a week you want to see, clicking back and forth will become a mess later on, also I did notice that sometimes it doesn't lead you to the week before or after. It lead me from the first week to the latest one when I clicked forth to see the second week.

On the player page I'd like to see something like this

WEEK / Placing / Score / Etc.

You know just the regular stuff neatly displayed.

This is now fixed.

Can the rankings chart show how many weeks each player played like on BOM? Thanks.

Can we get a reminder email to check our reminder email?

I keep forgetting :(

In the Results section, I think it would be better to have a separate subsection for the weekly Game Index, where it showed each week with the winner and you could click on the week to see the complete rankings. Currently you have to go to Quarterly results and find it at the bottom right, which is a bit too random/hidden.

What would you remove from the current chart to include that information?

Having a game index might satisfy this. It would be nice if you could click on a players name from the quarterly/yearly rankings and go to a players index page where you could view each week they played, the number of players in that week, and their ranking that week. Maybe the player index page could be broken down by year as well.

When sorting a column in the quarter/year rankings, I would prefer if the first click were a best to worst sort, and the second click reversed it. I imagine I'm not alone in that.

Both good suggestions.

The index pages are certainly something we'll be considering here going forward.

Smth is off this week. I guess the deadline was supposed to be earlier due to Titanic coming out on Wednesday (like BOM did), but it's not working. It currently says You have until Apr 6 2012 at 8:00am EDT to enter or edit your prediction (-1 days, -5 hours, and -27 minutes remain). So that's about now I think but that -1 day part is obviously wrong.
