Post Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS

I've been anticipating the game for awhile, and Sakurai's daily screenshots on Miiverse were nice, but this Direct is amazing.

I wasn't planning on picking both the 3DS and Wii U versions, but the Smash Run Mode exclusive to the 3DS has persuaded me otherwise (and the 60fps on 3DS given all the content is very impressive as well). While Kirby's Air Ride wasn't a great game, the City Trial Mode was super fun, and this looks to take it up several notches.

3DS version is so great. There are issues, such as button mapping, sometimes unstable online play and the weak Smash Run mode. Yet the core experience is fantastic, better than Brawl with its slower pace and stupid wii controller. It is also balanced really well. I can finally have fun playing as Bowser!

I kinda want to pick it up for the 3DS... but Skylanders: Trap Team and Disney Infinity 2.0 (released 2 weeks apart, seriously!?) are making other game purchases more difficult at the moment. Thankfully, we've been saving up gift cards throughout the entire year, so along with them and trade-ins, we bought most of the new Skylanders and Disney Infinity offerings so far without too much out of pocket money.

So I'm probably just going to wait for November 21st and buy the Wii U version of Smash Bros., which also happens to be the day the new Pokemon games are released, too! But How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Legend of Korra Book 3 both come out on DVD, and more Skylanders/Disney Infinity will be released around the same time, too... $$$ :zonks: $$$ There better be some amazing Black Friday/Christmas deals this year.

Nintendo is being pretty stupid for releasing the pokemon games and smash u on the same date.

One of them should have been delayed to either December or March 2015

My favorite character is Mega Man. Perfect amount of speed and power. Kinda like Fox was in Melee.

Pikachu still remains as the best playable character to me

I've got plenty of new favorites though, can't decide yet!

Do you play online? I'm completely addicted to 4-player smash. 1 on 1 and team are fun too, but also highly frustrating. With 4-player I can have fun even if I don't win, though my ratio is going up every day. :shades: I won six in a row yesterday to boost me up to 36%.

So. Much. Content.

Spoilers below:

Spoiler: show
>8-player Smash is going to be insane! Even 5-7 player Smash will be crazy.
>All the Nintendo Music ever basically.
>Smash Tour looks incredibly addicting. I love board game games like Mario Party or Fortune Street, so I'll be playing this mode A LOT.
>amiibo looks more intriguing (especially since they'll be used in other games, too), but my god. Along with Skylanders and Disney Infinity... our poor wallets.
>And I guess I'll have to pick up a copy of the 3DS version now, too, with that awesome CD promotion and Mewtwo code.

So for the amiibo figures, I think we're going with:

Me:
Wave 1 - Pikachu (Launch), Marth (Launch), Samus (Launch)
Wave 2 - Zelda (December)

Boyfriend:
Wave 1 - Link (Launch), Kirby (Launch), Peach (Launch)
Wave 2 - Pit (December)

Since some amiibo are said to unlock features in certain games, we may alter future purchases. For instance, I'm pretty sure the Mario characters are way more likely unlock features in Mario Kart 8 (confirmed), Mario Party 10 (confirmed), and upcoming unannounced Mario games. And the Pokemon and Zelda characters will probably have use outside of Smash Bros., too.

Captain Falcon, Fox, Little Mac amiibo probably aren't going to get much use outside of Smash Bros., though I hope that if the amiibo are really successful, it might give Nintendo a reason to revive or more regularly update their games franchises like F-Zero, Star Fox, or Metroid.

Simply put: amiibo from more popular franchises are likely to have the most value.

Tomorrow! And reviews are excellent.

I'll have to pick it up on Saturday, though, along with a lot more. Tomorrow is practically Nintendo game release day.

I'm free all of next Sunday if we want to set a time then (Wii U version).

I'm loving the game. It's gorgeous (on some stages, I'm just watching the background), controls better than Brawl, and all the amount of content is impressive to say the least.

Target Smash is really addicting, and I've only done it with maybe half the characters in Stage 1. It's so much better than the previous Target games in past Smash Bros.. My highest score at the moment is with the Villager (yeah, lol) with a score of 197,000 in Stage 1. There were only a few targets remaining, so maybe 200,000 is max in Stage 1?

Smash Tour is also a lot of fun. The first couple games were a bit confusing/hectic, but it's also really addicting and hilarious at times.

Love it as well so far too! So much to do - all of a lot of fun.

I cannot wait to get 8 players going locally. I can't believe that's an option.

Right now it's Ike and Charizard. I'm also playing with Greninja, Pit, Marth, Lucina, and Mega Man often. I'm trying to play better as Robin, but he/she has quite the learning curve.

Boyfriend is primarily using Palutena, Zelda, Shulk, Mega Man, Duck Hunt, Rosalina, and Peach.

And they had a missed opportunity to give Lucina her Marth disguise as an alternate costume, though. That would have been awesome.

To me Bowser Jr. is the best entry

So the Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer amiibo figures are rumored to be discontinued once the current supply runs out.

All three are sold out about everywhere and are going for crazy prices online now (anywhere from $40-100+). And pre-orders for many other figures are also being cancelled by retailers due to supply and demand. Which is really unfortunate because I still haven't found a Marth figure anywhere in my area, and it'll be nearly impossible now with people buying any they find just to sell them for 5x the price online.

Either Nintendo wasn't anticipating how popular the amiibo figures would be (silly when you look at Skylanders/Disney Infinity), or their supply was simply really low. I really hope they meet the demand for the future wave of figures. I'm going to preorder asap knowing this news, though.
