Post Re: Democracy 2020 (President-elect Joseph R Biden Jr.)
Trump obviously didn't tell people to storm the capitol in his speech, and then when it happened he tweeted a video to go home. If you want to say that the entire 2 months of contesting the election and Stop the Steal caused the attack, ok, but it's legal to contest election results which is why the entire process with Dec. 14th electors vote and Jan 6th legislature vote safeguards exists in the first place instead of just going directly by the vote count. Making it illegal to protest election results would not be a good idea long term as it would open the door either for real cheating, or suspected cheating. Gore being allowed to challenge and fail was a good thing instead of Democrats thinking for 20 years they got robbed. Likewise if Biden legitimately won he would have benefitted from a transparent audit of the vote to prove it, as it would have avoided 70 million people thinking the election was stolen. The message of "We don't have to look at the ballots and machines, shut the fuck up and move on" is either a stupid strategy by a party that legitimately won and can't see how it would help a severely divided country to put the issue to rest going forward, or a perfectly logical strategy by a party that cheated.

If they didn’t do any audits, then what are these supposed “investigations” that have found no evidence?

Not going through the voter fraud evidence argument again. The Trump side was clearly met with resistance at every turn when they tried to get the votes audited with both sides allowed to watch. There was no left wing writer or politician saying “Let Trump see all the ballots and the machines he wants, it’ll prove Biden won which is better for him going forward”, it was always “Biden won, the election is over, Trump is hurting democracy by trying this" Because they all didn’t want to take even the chance that it would come up Trump’s way.

This is a flat out lie and you know it.

Taken from same article, this guy was not inside the Capitol. Again, Trump Supporters who was present at Trump's speech when he said to do the walk down Pennsylania Avenue, timeline-wise with how long it takes to walk, they are a different group of people than the group that breached inside the Capitol.

Then why are they claiming that they investigated if they didn’t? People, many of them conservatives themselves, are throwing out court cases left and right like they must have some way of knowing there’s no evidence.

Its not required or anyone's place be it Trump or Biden to physically examine the ballots and machines. I am sure the system has people who can do that without any prejudice, questioning that is just not agreeing defeat specially after multiple investigations. Anyone supporting this claim does not understand the voting process and democracy.

Having said that I am eagerly waiting for 6 more days before Trump's master plan is revealed.

Some signs if something happens

25k soldiers in DC put there by him - does that make more sense to protest crowd-less Biden inauguration, or anticipating world's biggest shitfit if Trump is inaugurated? And if he was THAT worried about more MAGA riots, why not make a 100% clear concession or invite him to the white house, instead of videos where Biden's name isn't mentioned and preparing to drop declass stuff that will stoke fire. He surely knows his base hasn't given up yet.

Trump is on an executive order spree, seems like a waste of time for both him and Biden if they can be undone in a week.

Democrats behaviour strange if they just won by trying to get 25th amendment and impeachment done a week before inauguration, skittish Pelosi asks the military for the nuclear codes

Harris about to set the record for latest a VP has resigned senate seat, I believe she ties 2009 Biden today, which was motivated by how long he had been in already and therefore stretching it out a little longer.

Next week the world changes one way or the other, either US takes a sharp turn towards being a communist country and all that would mean for everyone else who depends on them being the freedom police, or Trump wins in a way that blows up the entire swamp (such as high profile arrests or revealing information that disqualifies Biden on the spot, that eventually leads to pandora's box being opened)

Post Re: Democracy 2020 (President-elect Joseph R Biden Jr.)
You guys are going to be so let down when the next four years are relatively boring, and just largely unexciting politics. Some will continue to be glued to social media reading about the latest conspiracies, trying to get a high on connecting the dots like they're putting together something from IKEA, but most of us are looking forward to a return to normalcy.

Just a few things I've thought about over the last couple of days that will finally happen:

-Strong likelihood of finally raising the minimum wage after a ridiculous 12 years. A Big Mac combo meal is higher than the minimum wage now. I buy frozen grilled chicken for various meals, and a fucking bag of grilled chicken at the grocery store is higher than the minimum wage now. I live comfortably enough with my job and husband's, but I know and see people who are really struggling and take repeated hits to their pride when they have to get assistance.

I'm actually not on board on increasing it to $15 (because I understand the impact on rural businesses), and rather think ~$12/13 is a fair and equal amount that can be increased again in the next 4/5 years. But literally any increase is welcomed. At the Barnes & Noble I managed before COVID (now I can hire from home!), I'd often get employees that drove an hour or more to work for $9.25-9.50 versus the $7.25 they'd receive in PA. $8.75 is the minimum in WV, but our store was one of the better performers in the region, so we could go a bit higher. People shouldn't have to cross State lines to get a minimum wage job versus another minimum wage job. Good grief.

-An actual COVID response and focus on vaccine distribution. The bar is literally on the floor here, so anything is better than whatever the hell has been happening over the last 12 months.

-Hopefully some adjustments and fixes to the ACA. Simply put, it's too expensive. I think the fact that Trump and the GOP (especially when the had control of both chambers between 2016-2018) didn't have ANY plan to replace it, much less make any attempts to make it work better, is perhaps their biggest failure.

-An EPA that doesn't have an anti-environment platform.

Biden is the most experienced person to become President since Bush in 1988. This is truly a "ready on day 1" candidate. There will likely be far less drama, scandal, fuck-ups etc than usual in the early days due to this fact.

The gov. is also completely divided. Dem "majorities" are tiny. Biden is a moderate President. Will be interesting to watch but do not expect many extreme or controversial things to pass any time soon.

Yeah, I for one just want an actual conservative politician in office, and that is what we will get with Biden. The only major change I want right now is an end to drug prohibition, which VP Harris has been open, at least according to one of her debates

The Democrats copied the CCP's response to the pandemic, copied their view on media/censorship, and copied their view on elections. Half the population would probably take Xi as president over Trump. Therefore if Biden had actually won I'd expect some China type combination of private business being allowed (Lockdowns go away in a few months credited to Biden. Cuomo and Newsom are already changing their tune) and therefore things feeling "normal" except effective one party state where questioning the government is now terrorism, including possibly the far left getting too critical of them, they learn the hard way after their purpose was served that the top 1% and political class never cared about them, they were just using them.

Because Trump was anti-China (and possibly good at it) does not mean anyone else who becomes the President cannot be anti-China as well. I am sure the approaches will be different but to blindly say that the other party will discontinue all of Trump's efforts before they even had a chance to sit on the chair is.......

There is a difference between people who think Trump is in control vs the full Qanons, ftr.

With that said this week was the most I've looked into Q after immediately discounting it to this point, and there's more evidence than I thought that Trump or someone on his team is responsible for Q. But does that mean they're giving out real information, or could they have another motive?

The single biggest problem in the US remains not the fact that leaders do not know how to govern, but the fact that too few voters know how to hire.

If the president was going to be Elizabeth Warren, we wouldn’t be questioning her loyalty to the US over China, but that’s also why she lost her early front runner primary status as Biden was pushed through. Biden and Bloomberg were the two main CCP-compromised candidates that had shady business deals with China, and it’s already been revealed that many of Biden’s cabinet picks and staff have deep ties to China.

In terms of media and internet censorship, I’m now wondering if it’s really that much worse in China than it has been in the last several months for US. China’s pandemic lockdown policies has not been as prolonged as in several US states. And I doubt the % of China’s population who questioned if illegal acts were committed in China’s elections has ever been as high percentage as in the US recently,

Yet it's still a speculation because Biden hasn't yet taken the oath. For next couple of days he is not yet President. Also politicians change their tactics or strategies pretty much every day.
