Re: Debate #2
Next debate is Oct 15 or 16. Everyone on stage last night already qualified plus Steyer. There's potential for those still running who did not make last night's debate could qualify for the next one. Let's get Tulsi and Kamala on stage together again.

Sure, let's put Tulsi and Kamala on their own stage, and put up fake tv cameras, and lock the doors, and forget where we put the key.

Re: Debate #2
Yang is now polling at 4%. Moving on up. We know Kamala isn't getting elected. Get outta the way girl. Same with Beto who's at 1%. Buttagieg. He's at 7% but come on...please. Bernie is fading, so give the voters the choice of Biden, Warren and Yang. Three very different choices.
Also, Warren just needs to change her wording and admit taxes will go up for middle class folks but their overall costs will go down instead of playing word games when asked about it. I just heard this Colbet clip and that wench was giving her advice on how to communicate that point.

Re: Debate #2
The medicare/tax question is a gotcha question. There is no point in answering it with clarity because Fucks News will just run the headline of "taxes will go up with M4A!".

Re: Debate #2
You know Warren doesn't care what Fox News reports, so just explain it. She has a plan for everything. She can just explain like Colfake was telling her too. It'd be much more effective than dancing around it and dancing around it won't work against Trump at a debate. Besides, I don't think folks would care that their taxes may go up if their healthcare costs and fear of it are nearly eliminated.

Re: Debate #2
Some people would care, because it will be painted as a headline, by multiple media outlets. Even "good" ones have a tendency to make their headlines clickable, and that's what the majority of people read.
Like it or not, 'taxes' are a major trigger word for a lot of people. So if you're trying to explain it in a way without saying that outfront... it's not easy. Eventually, yeah, she might just have to explain it that way and hope the backlash from "moderates" isn't too much.

Re: Debate #2
Tulsi just got 2% in a debate qualifying poll. I believe that puts her one poll away from the October debate. The DNC isn't going to count the ABC/Washington Post poll that listed her at 2% because the ABC part was 1%, WP part was 2%, and the ABC poll is the one they are counting for qualifying. I'm not going to get into how ridiculous that is. They won't count it so move on. One more poll by Oct. 1 gets her in. I want to see what she can do with another debate. To make a big enough impact, she'd probably need to take on one or more of the top 3 like she did with Harris. I hope she gets the chance.

Nobody in the general public is going to like her more. Her only fans are weird online trolls. And republicans.

Seems to me that she could be an interesting option for dems who are uncomfortable with how left Sanders and Warren are, but don't trust Biden. If she has the chance to emphasize that to a decent audience at the next debate, her numbers could go up quite a bit. Also, because she is so central/moderate compared to most of the other candidates and has military experience, she would be one of the top choices for 2016 Trump voters who realize now how terrible he is and want a valid alternative .

Those people could just... not vote for Trump. That's the alternative.

Like... the answer to the Right moving MORE right isn't to... also move right. Unless the Democrats want to destroy the future of the party.

We need to elect people, regardless of party, who can work together to solve our problems. If the left keeps going further left, and vice versa, nothing will get accomplished because they'll constantly be fighting (even worse than now). The more moderate folks of both parties are far more likely to work together. In my view, it's the only way to move forward as a country.

Moderate positions aren't moderate, though. They're right-leaning positions.

If you are near the center, leaning left or right, you're far more likely to work together to get things done. Less animosity because your values aren't in stark contrast with the people you're trying to work with. There's overlap, something to work with. There won't be any lasting solutions to our country's problems if we don't elect people who can work together.

I can't name a "moderate" position that isn't right-leaning.

Re: Debate #2
Quote: NEWS: The DNC is raising the qualifying threshold for the November debate to 3% in 4 polls (up from 2%) + 165,000 unique donors (up from 130,000).
There is also a new alternative option to hit the polling threshold: 5% in 2 *early state* polls. Adios, Tulsi!

She can probably swing a NH poll to 5%, but getting a second early state that high will be tough. Would it count if it was two different qualifying polls for the same state? Whatever, one thing at a time. One more at 2%+ to get in for October.

All I care about is Yang getting on the ever smaller stage.
Buttagieg needs to get out of the way. Cory and Kamala too though I think Cory was about to drop out anyway. Sanders will wither under Warren's mojo.

Chippy wrote: Moderate positions aren't moderate, though. They're right-leaning positions. What the right describes as "moderate" is to the right of what the majority of Americans want. Medicare for All has the support of 63 percent of registered voters. Tuition-free public college has 63 percent support. A majority of Americans support Obamacare. (This is especially true if you call it “the Affordable Care Act.”) A majority thinks gay marriage, abortion and marijuana should be legal. A majority supports more gun control. A majority is against Trump's wall and is against separating children from their parents at the border. A majority wants to raise taxes on the wealthy and do not believe that “corporations are people.” A majority want to raise the minimum wage and do something about campaign finance reform. (And a majority support amending the Constitution to overturn the Citizen’s United case). And let’s not forget that in 6 of the last 7 Presidential elections, the Democrat received more votes than the Republican. We’re the moderates. We’re mainstream. We’re the majority. Our positions aren't radical or leftist. They're middle of the road. They're what a majority of Americans want. All the lies the right will say about how that isn't the case won't change that.
