Also: Police should never investigate anything if there is the slightest possibility they might lose. |

I'm almost positive you've written Speaker Pelosi an impassioned plea for her to call the vote to bring up articles of impeachment. Good job. I hope she listens to you so Trump can get acquitted by the Senate and just add that to his talking points at his rallies. |

nghtvsn wrote: According to demoncrats any phone call with another president is impeachable. Fake whistleblower hearsay nonsense is impeachable. Fake Russian collusion is impeachable. If that's the case...just DO IT. Call up Nancy and tell her to hold the damn vote. Of course, we know how this all ends anyway. There is 0.00% chance the Senate would convict Trump over trumped up nonsense but you guys impeach him and keep everything besides budget bills frozen in Congress. That's a great strategy. Hey how many bills have the House passed and piece of shit McConnell has just let die in the Senate? |

Come on now. This isn't unusual and the main issue is the 60 vote rule. Get rid of that and then both sides will be able to pass whatever they want in most cases, however, as much as we all probably hate that rule it's there so at least SOME in the minority support a bill and it should be voted upon yay or nay. Personally, I want the rule done away with because I have no doubt Schumer would get rid of it if he had the chance now. |

When Trump's cover is blown, he doubles down and does it again, in public, asking another foreign country to investigate the Bidens. |

The Trump admin appeared to have directed Ukraine on what to investigate and Trump's personal lawyer Giuliani insisted any Ukrainian public statement expressly reference "Burisma", Hunter Biden's former company. Ukraine ultimately refused to issue a statement making these references. Text exchanges between US Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland and senior US diplomat in Ukraine, Bill Taylor: Quote: August 30 Taylor: “Are we now saying that security assistance and WH meeting are conditioned on investigations?” Sondland: “Call me.” September 9 Taylor: "As I said on the phone, I think it's crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign." Sondland: "Bill, I believe you are incorrect about President Trump's intentions. The President has been crystal clear no quid pro quo's of any kind. The President is trying to evaluate whether Ukraine is truly going to adopt the transparency and reforms that President Zelensky promised during his campaign.I suggest we stop the back and forth by text. If you still have concerns I recommend you give [State Department Executive Secretary] Lisa Kenna or S [meaning Secretary Pompeo] a call to discuss [with] them directly." https://www.lawfareblog.com/volker-texts-what-quid-pro-quo-looks |

Harris may be next. Her campaign has nearly pulled out of New Hampshire this week to go all-in on Iowa, where she's fallen below 5%. She's also fallen below 5% nationally. I suppose she has enough cash on hand to reach the Iowa primary (especially since she's largely abandoning New Hampshire now), but if shes ends up getting like 3%, she'll likely drop out right after. |

What the witnesses said during the hearing via PBS NewsHour: This is what news should be focusing on (witness testimonies instead of the theatricals from the Congress people). |

Two articles of impeachment were approved today. House vote on impeachment is likely next week. The whole thing happened without much of suspense. Trump asked the Ukrainian president to investigate the Bidens. Witnesses testified military aid and an Oval Office meeting were withheld unless Ukraine made a public announcement about investigating the Bidens. According to Trump, he cared about corruption in Ukraine so much he was demanding Ukraine investigate itself. Quote: On a straight party-line vote, the House judiciary committee voted on Friday morning to move two articles of impeachment against Donald Trump to the House floor, in a crucial final stage before impeachment itself. A full House vote on whether to impeach the president was expected to be taken as early as Wednesday. Trump would be the third president in American history to be impeached. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/dec/13/house-committee-donald-trump-impeachment-vote |

What exactly is the point of the impeachment? The desperate hope 20 Republicans in the Senate switch sides? It’s a waste of time that just makes him a martyr and overshadows all the other reasons to vote against Trump I guess the next time the House and Senate are both owned by the opposite party of the president (doesn’t happen often, Bush had a 49-49 senate his last few years, and Ford apparently was the last one before that) they’re probably getting impeached and removed. I mean if the opposing party can just kick out the president any time they want and replace him with his drip vice, sure sounds like a great strategy to win the next election. All you need is to find a reason, and both sides are so hellbent on trying to cheat democracy to win the election that surely they wouldn’t care if it’s a good one. And if Trump happens to win and loses the House and Senate, he is obviously getting removed, although Democrats would have to sit through about 3.5 years of Pence after that. In the mean time when only the House is controlled by the opposing party they can just impeach every president making it a meaningless political move |

I think voters understand that partisanship makes conviction unlikely but they heard the case against Trump and will keep it in mind when voting. |

I read an interesting theory that if the Democrats know RBG isn’t making it to November, they can play the card that Trump can’t appoint anyone because he’s impeached |
