And if he does - could he beat Obama?? Seems like a long shot to me, but considering there's really no strong Republican candidate, it could happen.

Donald Trump?

His plan for America?

First, inherit a lot of money. Then invest it in a casino, which never loses money. Then lose money anyway and declare bankruptcy, don't pay your creditors, and just to make sure, declare bankruptcy again a few years later.

Why anyone would trust this guy with their piggy bank, much less the richest country in the world, is beyond me.

It's like we're becoming the "reality show" country, where whoever attracts the most attention of the lowest common denominator becomes a potential candidate. It's embarrassing, really.

That second poll is worrying, in my opinion. Is Donald Trump seriously that strong of a contender? C'mon now.

No, I just think Obama is that unpopular.

Winning by 9 points in a Presidential election is a huge victory.

Obama beat McCain by 7% and most people considered that a landslide.

Take into account that polls this early are very unreliable in any event.

Obama, at this stage of his term, is around the same place Clinton was before he won huge in his re-election, and is ahead of where Reagan was before he won huge in his re-election, so I'm not sure he is "so unpopular". Or at least not any more unpopular than Presidents usually are.

Perhaps not, I usually don't like when people badmouth Obama, not because I don't think he deserves criticism, but because they usually criticize him for the wrong reasons. But from my point of view, most people I know are not fans of Obama, but then I suppose those who are not very vocal about politics, which is a lot of people, might support him, I honestly don't have a clue.

Obama will win this next election in a landslide. I guarantee it.

Hey, I have a lot of things I don't like about Obama, but I think that if anyone is 100% in favor of someone, they aren't doing any independent thinking.

Still, overall, I've agreed with him more than any other President in my lifetime. That says more about the Presidents we've had than Obama though.

His ratings, as I pointed out, are not any worse than Reagan or Clinton. There is no GOP candidate who touches him in the polls. I'd pretty much guarantee his re-election, and given how the GOP is pissing off people majorly these days, I'd expect a big turnout of Democrats in 2012.

Are Democrats more behind Obama now than they were when he was running? It's probably pretty close.

Indeed. I have 0 recollection of making this thread. I almost forgot he was pondering a run in 2012.

I don't recall anything in 2011 which hinted at him running. How did you even come to ask this question??

They were throwing out names in 2011, and Trump was briefly at the top of Republican polls for a week or so (just like all the other random candidates like Newt were at one point).
