I'm not going to pretend to know much about the Syria situation but it does seem like they got the read text but no answer from Russia.

Syria doesn't really matter. One dictator will be replaced by another. They always promise inclusivity at the beginning then become just like who they opposed all along.

But this whole situation is yet another way to highlight how poor Russia is doing as a power.

As a power? What power since the end of the Soviet Union?

The issue isn’t Russia’s power, the issue is “western” economic global power, which is eroding in time as economic growth happens elsewhere.

Assad got an answer; he reportedly left Syria without telling anyone. He reportedly lied to his own generals, officials, and office staff.

Edit: He didn’t even tell his own brother; commander of an army unit. His brother reportedly fled by helicopter to Iraq and then Russia.

Israel has essentially destroyed whatever remained of the Syrian military, its weapons, and chemical weapons etc.

Two Russian oil tankers were damaged in a storm and spilled oil. At least one was reported to have sunk. In the Kerch Strait near Crimea and the Black Sea.

Now he claims he fled with the Russians to their coastal base, and only left Syria when that base came under attack.

We shouldn't be surprised when the clown starts clowning again.

With Tulsi and Trump there is a good chance he comes to the US

Fine, I moved them myself. I didn’t think they were appropriate for this thread, and as confirmed, there exists no hint of maturity to have a serious conversation.

I kept this post in both threads since it was concise enough, and doesn’t involve overly difficult or serious subject matter.

FYI, since Shack moved the other replies, I’ll just say this: the fact that you try to take advantage of my intentional, deliberate, simplistic, and obvious play, offer, or opportunity to interpret what I say based on your expectations, assumptions, perspectives, tropes, cliches, narratives, or common cultural references, confirms my experience and evidence - more clearly and obviously than I anticipated - that you completely lack the maturity, by my standards, to have a serious conversation, and further, strongly supports and further reinforces the idea that this condition is permanent for the duration of your species’ life expectancy. There no evidence to the contrary whatsoever; there is abundant evidence in support.

Polievre is better than Trudeau but strikes me as a potential "fraud", a career politician who realized the popular thing now was to say all the anti immigration and anti woke things right wingers like, showing up fake news reporters, etc. I bet this is how the powers that be like the military industry complex adjust now that the previous liberal types like Trudeau and Macron are dying out, get someone like him or Meloni who says all the things right wingers like, but is more predictable and easier to play ball with than Trump or Milei.

And now Trump is selling out Ukraine just so he can say he "made a deal" and "got peace". Such a selfish asshole.

Reneged on banning TikTok, and sticking it to adversarial China. Confronting US allies with tariffs. Now selling out Ukraine to a dictator.

It's no surprise since Trump himself is a dictator. Unfortunately for him he's just not living in a country designed for him .... yet. He'll try to change that.

Trump is old and will die in a few years. If he was ten years younger I guarantee he would be pushing harder to implement a third term
