I agree totally. It's governors that are going to be the running mates. There's been some minute talk of Rick Perry from Texas also being a possible VP, but I'm not sure how popular he is there.

i dont think perry would be a good vote, they need to throw in someone who can take states, crist guarantees florida for the republicans.

Strickland would probably guarantee a Democatic winner, Clinton or Obama.

As I said in the other thread, the potential VP's I've heard for McCain are (in order of my likely probability):

Huckabee
Crist
Jeb Bush
Romney

Crist as the VP?

Christ.

He's a likable guy - and he's gay.

I think McCain should choose Christine Todd Whitman.

I'm not sure about Obama or Hillary. I don't think they will choose each other.

Obama is fine in the red states. In the red state primaries, he's really kicking Hillary's ass. I think he needs to shore up support from base Democrats. I don't know who fits that bill. I'd say Edwards but it's unlikely he'd accept.

Hillary has to be extremely careful and she could really go either way. She might simply write off the movement conservatives, since they wouldn't vote for her is Jesus was her running mate (besides, Jesus wants Huckabee to win). So she has to appeal to independents and former Barack supporters. Hmmm. She might ask Barack after all. ??? But would he accept? Can't rule it out. It would put him in the prime spot for running in 8 years, plus he'd still be fairly young.

Well, he's very single and there's quite a bit of talk about it.

I'm ashamed to say this, but Crist is a very close associate of my family. My grandfather insists, based upon having spent lots of time with him on some exclusive Republican getaway in South Florida, that he "must be straight," but my grandfather is so blind of these things that he "must be gay."

More seriously, there have been serious allegations of same-sex affairs. I say there is a very decent chance that he is gay, but of course he'd never admit it.

Enough with my speculation.

Obama and Clinton would allow democrats to really pick up swing states and some mid-southern states like Missouri, Arkansas and Colorado.

I think they will easily take Ohio...

Crist isn't out of the closet though, he's still in hiding.

I want someone who will attack the other side like Gore did in 1992 and Cheney did in 2000. I am tired of people like Lieberman and the nice guy crap of Edwards. Biden, although I am not a big fan of his, is really good at that sort of thing. Richardson seems too soft for that sort of thing and I really don't think him being a heart beat away from the presidency is such a good thing after watching him in the debates. Clark would be good at it and I think he might be the best choice of what is out there. I am intrigued by Webb, but since he switched parties so recently I don't think he would fly with many Dem regulars.

A big reason I support Hillary is that having Bill Clinton, he can be the attack dog for her in a general election, so the Vice President could shore up other needs. Obama won't have that luxury.

Interesting. If McCains advisors have made the same speculation about Crist - then they'd probably not want him as Running mate (since MCCain is now going for the conservative base).

Time will tell I guess.

I've heard Kathleen Sebelius being thrown aroiund as a possible running mate for Obama. That would be interesting and would broaden his appeal among indepedents and moderate republicans.

That'd be pretty crazy.

Obama, stealing the presidency from Hillary, and choosing a woman who WASN'T Hillary as his running mate. He'd for sure be on her shit list.

Yeah, Kathleen is being mentioned. Claire McCaskill too.

I don't think Hillary would accept VP even if he offered it to her. No real reason for her to.

Reminds me of these super negative trash ads against her in 2006 lol. Wow, Obama might take Missouri if that happens.

No new leader needs fear the wrath of the emperor he deposes. ;)

Sebelius would be a wonderful running mate. She has Hillary's positives without the baggage.
