So more people watched Grey's Anatomy over CSI but yet switched channels again to watch Shark over 6 Degrees when GA had a slight lead over CSI? I dont know if its good news at all for 6 Degrees.

Yeah, but that wont work forever. I'd say they got another season because of how critically acclaimed they are. Kind of like Arrested Development. But I don't think 6 point ratings every week will be enough for them to stick around 7-10 seasons, which is unfortunate cause they're the only two good sitcoms on television.

Or the old people fell asleep during CSI and therefore couldn't change the channel when Shark came on.

Not really, considering it won the Emmy. They'll probably be even again next week.

And Grey's is just, oh my. . .

So how long can Earl and The Office stay alive with ratings in the 6 point range?

Congrats to GA for drawing first blood. But the margin is too small. I say the punching bag will go back and forth, with a win here for GA and a win there for CSI.

If they go at it... House will squeak by with a win! :hahaha:

NBC should be happy that ABC's Grey's Anatomy helped ER get better ratings.

Six Degrees lost 4 million viewers in itds second half-hour, so it's DOA. I say they put Traveler there, it already has an internet fanbase.

And I think that margin is enough for Grey's to keep a lead for the rest of the season in first-run episodes.

But how far did Desperate Housewives fall from its second season opener?

Wowwwww.

Really didn't think it'd happen.

Mediaweek says that this is the first time a non-season finale of any series has beat an episode of CSI in almost two years.

It makes me sad that Grey's Anatomy beat CSI for the premiere, but it makes me happy that the Office improved on Earl. Conflicting feelings!

Well I'm not too surprised. The GA premiere was incredibly hyped. The "it" show of last year was Grey's Anatomy, the year before Lost/DH. A big premiere is expected. CSI is very good at consistency, as each episode can stand on its own, so GA will probably be hurt in that department as the season progresses, and fluctuate a lot more (higher during sweeps, and early on, and in the end), but will dip in between a bit, while CSI will be fairly consistent. But they just have to ensure they don't go into a DH like slump. But the first episode was great.

Me?Grovel? Never!!
If they want to put up a link for the public, it would be great for "other" people to critique

Yeah, good for The Office, but I'm still disappointed that it hasn't broken out yet. I think it's possible for ratings increases throughout the season.

I expected Six Degrees to do better. I recorded the pilot but haven't watched it yet.

And ER is still alive.

http://www.mininova.org/tor/367384 When looking for pilots, always check the torrent sites. (Of course, the only pilots I've watched this summer were up on YouTube, but I have hard drive issues.)

So here's the changes from last year:

Grey's Anatomy 1 year ago premiere: 19 million
This year: 25 million +6

GA averaged 16 million viewers last season overall, so its premiere is very impressive.

CSI 1 year ago: 29 million
This year: 22 million -7

CSI if it can't get higher than that, could potentially drop out of the top 3 shows, which its been in for a LONG time. Should make it an interesting season. AI and GA should be able to stay in the top 5 for the season, along with CSI. I see a substantial decrease in DH's viewers, without GA around, and could potentially see it dropping out of the top 10, if its on par with last year fanwise. But we'll get a better idea with its premiere, but I just dont hear anyone talking about that show anymore...

Unfortunately, for ABC, whatever show they throw on after Grey's Anatomy won't do well. There is way too much overlap between GA and ER's fanbases, and its just going to mobilize ER moreso. 10 pm is going to be tough to break, but 8 pm, Ugly Betty could definitely pull one over Survivor, and NBC's shows, which are good, but not great ratings wise.

Also, 62.6 million people were watching at 9:00 pm! With 3 different shows getting 10 m + viewers. It is incredibly amazing of Deal Or No Deal to still have done so well against GA and CSI. 57 m viewers just on those 3 networks...

Oh my gosh, I am actually a little shocked. I didn't expect Grey's to whomp CSI by over 3 million viewers.

So if this continues to happen, does that mean Grey's Anatomy becomes the new #1 show until Idol returns?

Pretty much. Unless something surprises.
