WoKJ Commandments

1) You shall not view the world through binary!
---------- Spam bots and spam in general are not allowed on the forum.

2) Thou shalt not bear witness to porn!
---------- Explicit nudity is not allowed in posts on the forum.

3) Thou shalt not bear witness to violence!
---------- Explicit violence is not allowed in posts on the forum.

4) You hath been granted the freedom of speech!
---------- Users of this forum are allowed to express themselves and their beliefs, regardless what those beliefs are, so long as they do so in a manner that isn't hostile to other members and respects others rights to their own beliefs. Similarly, profanity is an expression of oneself, and so long as that expression is not hostile to another, it is acceptable on this forum.

5) Treat thy fellow poster as you would have oneself be treated!
---------- Attacks directed at someone in a personal manner are not allowed. Do not attack a person's character, looks, social life, etc.

These commandments are the foundation of the forums rules.

Is nudity allowed if it is linked? What if it is in a "Spoiler" tag?

Hmm, I see these commandments are a whole lot sexier than those other pre-historic commandments. Not a single mention of adultery!

Score one for the Ecks Man.

Spoiler tags are no different than anything else. I have no problems with links to nudity so long as the site you are linking to is following the law. Links to illegal sites or sites breaking the law are not permitted.

Just remember that the camera removes like six inches.

Fact.

A few things to live by with regards to nudity:

- No nipples
- No genitalia
- For images that fit within the rules, but are still pretty NSFW, put them in a spoiler tag.
- A spoiler tag does not mean you can post nudity inside, images in spoiler tags are still subject to the rules.
- Be respectful to members at work, and stay away from images that press the line in your avatar / signature.
- If you're unsure, air on the side of caution and just post the link.
- Don't link to any site breaking the law.

Cool, thanks Eagle.

I was mostly just joshing. But Jiffy and Jon and xiayun know how rascally I can be too so I always want to be remain (mostly) within the rules.

I guess it's the difference between pushing the envelope and just putting the tip in. :noangel:

Just push the envelope with the tip. That should pass.

Eagle, what's your view on advertising or linking to commercial sites?

Some forums have a problem with this..

I'm not going to do this, by the way.

Shades of grey. If you link to another site in a manner that's relevant to the conversation at hand, no big deal. If you throw a link to your personal site or business in your signature and post normally, no big deal. If your promoting to promote in a way that's not relevant, we have a problem, ditto if you join simply for promotional purposes.

If you're an established member and you cross the line, the post will be removed and you'll get a heads up as to the reason. If your new and cross the line, it often makes you seem like a spammer and your account may be deleted.

No no, I wasn't asking because of this, actually. I was asking because someone is currently advertising in their signature and wanted to know if that was fine by the Admin. It seems it is, so no problems. Our lights aren't for consumer use.

Why do you care if someone is advertising? Are you an admin?

6th rule: If someone posts a poll, you must search the Internet high and low to find someone/thing not on the list.

Eh, you started it by giving me shit for voting for a very famous writer as if she were an absurdly obscure and random choice. ;)
