Hey guys,

Until now I've been a lurker. I finally decided to register because I wanted to tell you that, while the forums are great, the front page is letting you down. The fact that it still has "The Dark Knight" on there is going to make people think that this is a dead site.

I don't mean to critical, but if you can't be more up-to-date, then I'd recommend completely removing those kinds of articles from the front page and replacing them with some kind of live feed (is there such a thing as a web movie news feed?) or just having links to other sites that have more up-to-date stuff.

Feel like a louse posting this, but hope you know where I'm coming from!

Okay - - which one of you cowards started a second account to anonymously criticize KJ on it's most obvious weakness?

:grrr:

Coward = fair cop, I'm not a current poster but it's true that I haven't always been a lurker. I started a new account rather than using the old one 'cos not only have I forgotten the password, I've also forgotten the e-mail account. The anonymous new account/ pointless post was a combination of 1) bad day 2) too much to drink + 3) one too many encounters with Heath Ledger's face on the front page, and for what it's worth I do feel like a d*ck about it today. Apologies all.

The frustrating thing is not the age of the articles because it must be really difficult keeping on top of that... it's the fact that it draws attention to it by being the kind of front page that *needs* to be updated. How about replacing it with some kind of "sticky content" that is useful without requiring updates? I see there's already a feed of movie news so I'm not sure what I was talking about there (see point two above). How about maybe a panel of useful search engines that would be good for movie fans to have in the same place? You could type stuff in to search Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Google News, Google Blogs, Boardreader and the site forum all from the World of KJ front page. That would be a handy resource for just generally keeping abreast of the latest movie news and opinion. Maybe also a panel of amusing or interesting (or just informative) stuff that people have recently said on the forum? Just ideas, but I basically mean swapping the articles-led front page with combination of self-updating content like the existing feeds, useful tools like search engines, and low-maintenance stuff like extracts from the forum with links to the relevant threads.

EDIT: I've just seen that there's already a thread about this with some comments from the owners. Think I'm just going to slope back into lurkdom with my tail between my legs...

No harm no foul in voicing your opinion.

As I've said elsewhere, what we were doing wasn't working, and as of now we're just not sure where to take the site.

For the upcoming months, the main site has essentially been frozen. It won't be updated for some time. The issues you've mentioned are all feasible, but all require development and work, before committing those resources we first have to find a direction.
