It happened when i was using the Safari web browser.

It's not google, but I had something similar happen to me, and I wasn't pleased when it did. I'm looking into it, apologies.

Also the 'Malware' ad keeps throwing up annoying pop ups.

The reason you're getting popup is some of their advertisers are cheating the system and circumventing it by throwing popups where a banner should be. It's shitty, and we're trying to isolate and cancel those campaigns so it will stop happening.
