Don't know if this has been discussed already or not, but that'd be a great addition, IMO.

If I'm not mistaken, the forum software should allow for DOB as one of the optional fields, and that could probably be incorporated into the portal.

Anyone else think it';s a good idea?

As my first opportunity to suck up, I think that's the best idea I've seen in the history of messageboards!!! :cheer:

Wouldn't something have to be incorporated into the profile info, though?

Yeah, you'd put the info in your profile, and it should show up there, too, I'd imagine...but also when you enter the portal it would show todays birthdays.

It's a good idea for sure. I'm pretty sure matantonio's been campaigning for it for a while. I'm used to VB and having BDays at the bottom of the forum index, so I'd welcome it.

I looked around, and it definitely can be done. I need to wait until bABA settles all the issues with the domain, and then I'll be able to add it, unless there's some opposition to this from other members.

Vbulleting automatically displays users birthdays at the bottom of the index when they occur.

So I finally got around to it, and (admittedly with some damage to the boards) was able to install the birthday thingie.

You can enter you rbirthday in the profile; other users birthday information for a week ahead will be listed on the front page of the forum. You will also be able to see the poster's age within the message, if the poster specified the age.

I will later work on adding birthdays to the portal.

I added the birthdays to the portal.

I am looking into adding a calendar to the boards, so if that happens, you obviously will be able to search for birthdays by date.
