What the hell is a Miranese Knot? Thinking of Gordian Knot maybe?

Anway, finished second part of A Strom of Swords after being nearly 2 years mad at the Red Wedding. And I'm currently swallowing A Feat For Crows... A Dance With Dragons will be a perfect birthday present. I already said to my friend that he needs to buy me the book. :funny:

hehe Miranese Knot is the problem GRRM created by shelving the 5 year gap after Swords and splitting the characters between Feast and Dance. So for Dance he had problems marrying up the timeline of the characters, particularily with a few happenings at the end of Feast (which you may not be up to yet).

Your in a good position in that you will read Feast and Dance back to back. Ideally they should be read concurrently.

But where did you hear that expression (I've heard of a Gordian Knot which is a totally applicable term here)???? I Googled it and it only found one mention in your post on WOKJ... That's what I want to know.

Look for yourself.

Sorry, blame it on my inept spelling skills.

You'll find it here:

Can't wait to buy it ... put it on my shelf ... and not read it for a few years!

I don't think I'll read it till the show catches up.

There's always an option of show never catching up to it... :ninja:

I started reading after the first episode of the HBO series. So far - I am not finished - my favorite characters are Tyrion Lannister and Varys.

I just finished A Storm of Swords, which was considerably better than both A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings.

I agree it is the best, though not by as much as you. Be prepared for lots of Brienne, Cersei, and Iron Islands/Dorne nonsense in the next one. Though you get the luxury of being able to read Feast and Dance back to back, so it won't feel like half a book.

I finished Feast. It doesn't feel like half a book at all. Do I miss certain characters? Most certainly. But it was fun and exhilarating from start to finish.

I'll give it another read. So far Game and Clash have been the only ones I've re-read. Storm was way too draining to re-experience.

Yeah. I agree Storm is quite a chunk of a book and not easy to go through. Even if its a rewarding read.

I'm quite enjoying Cersei's chapters. Paranoid little thing, isn't she? I can't imagine this book ends well for her at this rate.

The trouble with Brienne's chapters is that we already know where Sansa is. Get a move-on already.

Yeah, Cersei's chapters are pretty great. But so far nobody had a good ending, I expect all characters to have bad endings eventually. :(

Considering that Sansa's whereabouts were never a mystery, going into Feast I assumed that Brienne's chase after Sansa is just a mask for a slightly different route Martin had in mind for her character.

Dance is soooo close! I nearly pissed myself when I read the last thing Martin written in Feast the other week. June 2005. ROFL. :funny: :funny: :funny:

If Brienne
Spoiler: show
and undead Cat
have a rewarding storyline in the future then all will be well. I just don't think she works as a great character by herself. She needs Jamie Lannister around giving her lip.

Death made Cat even more of a bitch.
I still blame the red wedding on her. If she hadn't hastily promised Robb's hand in marriage....

Spoiler: show
Think we'll find out what she screamed in DWD? Had to be Arya.

Cat was always bitchy. But yeah, she ended up more of a bitch in these couple pages than ever before.

I think we will definitely find out what she screamed. If she survived it's a word that saved her.

The Internet tells me Martin will die of a heart attack before the series is finished.
