To me, what was so refreshing on this film as not that it starred a female superhero, but that it was s self contained film with a satisfying arc within the film that didn't need to set up something "greater" down the line ala every Marvel film.

Several female friends of mine told me that they left the cinema feeling great regardless of the movie's quality. It doesn't have to be some kind of masterpiece to be empowering, and after the superhero genre has been dominated by male characters since its inception, that's what it was.

I think the Wonder Woman sequel will involve Dr. Barbara Minerva pre-Cheetah as an archaeologist who teams up with musuem curator Diana Prince in an Indiana Jones style adventure around the Mediterranean with Circe being the villain.

It wasn't a step backwards or forward for women. It was a leap forward
for WONDER WOMAN. Cameron is one of my favs but this was a really dumb thing to say. How about instead of turning feminism into a competition, you make more than one movie in 20 years.

Whatever your stance, it's impressive that it's on the brink of becoming the 5th highest-grossing superhero movie in North America, beat only by The Avengers and Nolan's last two Batmans.

I feel it is the only character that benefits from the tone of the current DCEU films
