MoviePass is $10 a month now
This seems way too good to be true. But so far, the only big drawback I see is that they are allowed to collect and sell the data you give them. Like everyone else on the internet. I know some people liked it at the previous price so they are sure to be thrilled.

This is an insane deal - I've been trying to get it most of the day, but their website is crashing a lot due to their exploding traffic.
How long do you think they'll be in business?

It's going to be crazy and hilarious once everyone starts getting their cards in the next 2 weeks if there's actually a noticeable bump in daily box office numbers.

Yeah that's just insane. How are the parties earning money out of this system?

_axiom wrote: How does this work for the theaters and studios? Basically the same as any other debit card. MoviePass just adds a balance to the card when you specify you want to see a movie at a specific time on their app. There's no way for theaters to block them with how it stands today. They get paid full price for ticket.

Re: MoviePass is $10 a month now
Well the data collection must be more valuable than what they'd lose through sales. And they must be banking on people making this a "$10 I forget that I'm spending" type of deal and only go like 6-7 times a year. We will abuse it of course, I'll be going to the theater 6-7 times before September is over, but there will probably be more people who don't.
I signed up though. Lets see how this goes!!

I've had MoviePass since fall 2012. I love it and am hoping this expansion works out.

Re: MoviePass is $10 a month now
I had it when it first came out but eventually had to drop it due to the cost. It became a deal of forcing myself to go to the theatre to make sure I got my money's worth. Plus the 24hr clock and how they would cover say 12$ for 2D at one theatre but not cover XD for 7$ at a different theatre.
I did sign up again like other foless and look forward to using it for 10$ or even 15$ down the road.

Got mine on Thursday. Other than the app being slow, everything went smoothly for Kingsman. And it already saved me $2.50 lol.

Worked fine Friday night - only downside is having to be within 100 meters of the theater to book the ticket. I do wonder if how many will sign up but not see more than 1 movie a month.

Got mine too, used it 3 times already. Price and being able to see a movie multiple times is amazing.

Thats a bit of a bummer (especially for big movies that tend to sell out). Was this made known prior to purchase or something you dont find out until after purchasing the pass?

Re: MoviePass is $10 a month now
It actually makes sense. For that amount of money they need to make sure people don't buy tickets and never watch the movie so they don't lose much.
